Anon on rapidly rising property taxes

It's happening in my city too. We've had a 300% property tax increase since buying, with another increase coming this year. The city, quite small & remote, is suddenly filled with tough African & Arab males. Foreigners everywhere - city is unrecognizable in the last 4 years. Crime out of control.

Last year my mother had a 100% tax increase in her town.

Similar to us. House is paid off, property taxes are currently $300 a month on a modest home and will be higher in 2020. My business license fee doubled this year. I'm hearing similar from other business people, exorbitant rent & property tax increases in other cities, even worse than ours. One well established business left their location and a Chinese nail salon moved in. Sounds like money laundering to me. One of my suppliers said he is down 40% this year because so many of his clients closed their businesses last year.

We are being squeezed for sure, plus the drug infestation & crime. I don't know what the answer is. I'm trying to stay positive & look for new options. Good luck Anon.
