Yes, quite true! The depth that oil deposits are found shows that they are below the strata where fossils are normally found! Coal is a fossil fuel. Fossils are often found in the seams of coal along with other petrified plant matter. There is a theory that petrochemical fuel, hydrocarbons, are actually a renewable resource. Also to note is that there are many locations that have oilfields that have not been tapped yet. They never taught me this in my university geology courses though.
