Pompeo Slams Democrats for Secret Meeting With Top Iranian Official

'I don't know what they said. I hope they were reinforcing America's foreign policy, not their own'

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia—Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed on Tuesday a group of Democratic senators who reportedly met in secret with Iran's foreign minister during a foreign policy conference held over the weekend in Germany.

A delegation of Democratic senators reportedly led by Sen. Chris Murphy (D., Conn.) held a secret powwow with Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the annual Munich Security Conference, where Pompeo was an official speaker.

The meeting was not officially sanctioned by the U.S. government and appears to have been held in secret to avoid media scrutiny. State Department officials have been clear that they did not play any role in facilitating the meeting or backing it.

Terrorists Murder 24 At Christian Church In

Armed terrorists stormed a Christian church in Burkina Faso on Sunday and murdered 24 people, including the pastor of the church, while injuring approximately a dozen more and kidnapping an undisclosed number of people.

“It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack, which comes as jihadist groups with links to al Qaeda and Islamic State seek to gain control over once peaceful rural Burkina Faso, fuelling ethnic and religious conflict,” Reuters reported. “The timing of the shooting, during a church service in the village of Pansi in the Yagha region, mirrors that of other attacks on Christians in the past year, including church attacks and assassinations of pastors and priests.”

The IMF and the World Bank

How Do They Differ?

If you have difficulty distinguishing the World Bank from the International Monetary Fund, you are not alone. Most people have only the vaguest idea of what these institutions do, and very few people indeed could, if pressed on the point, say why and how they differ. Even John Maynard Keynes, a founding father of the two institutions and considered by many the most brilliant economist of the twentieth century, admitted at the inaugural meeting of the International Monetary Fund that he was confused by the names: he thought the Fund should be called a bank, and the Bank should be called a fund. Confusion has reigned ever since.

Known collectively as the Bretton Woods Institutions after the remote village in New Hampshire, U.S.A., where they were founded by the delegates of 44 nations in July 1944, the Bank and the IMF are twin intergovernmental pillars supporting the structure of the world's economic and financial order. That there are two pillars rather than one is no accident. The international community was consciously trying to establish a division of labor in setting up the two agencies. Those who deal professionally with the IMF and Bank find them categorically distinct. To the rest of the world, the niceties of the division of labor are even more mysterious than are the activities of the two institutions.

Cubans Fight Back Against Military-Style Repression

In Santiago de Cuba, the regime deployed the elite fighting force, the black berets, to suppress the Cubans who responded by throwing rocks.

Spanish – The Castro regime released the black berets to restrain the population, the elite troops, the militarized police ready for combat. And ordinary Cubans faced their bullets with rocks.

There was an episode of insurgency in the province of Santiago de Cuba, and thanks to social media, it was filmed and broadcasted. The regime’s forces fired at the citizens, and instead of surrendering, the citizens responded as best they could.

“Weapons for what?” said Fidel Castro on January 1, 1959, when he took power by force. Since the communist revolution claims to give the people everything they need, it took away their capacity for self-defense. It expropriated existing weapons and monopolized the use of force.

Sixty-one years later, Cuban citizens responded to the abuse of power by throwing rocks, showing that communism can take away everything except the spirit of freedom.

It all began with the public outcry concerning the ineffectiveness of the police following the arrest of an alleged HIV-positive rapist who was accused of sexually abusing an eight-year-old girl.

Hong Kong protesters build barricades, set fire to railway station amid anger over virus

Protesters in Hong Kong returned to the streets at the weekend amid growing public anger over the city authorities’ handling of the coronavirus epidemic, with one group setting fire to a railway station and another damaging a local clinic.

The protesters occupied Tin Sau Road in Tin Shui Wai district and built barricades with rubbish bins, wooden boards, foam boxes and debris to block multi-lane highways, the government said on Sunday.

The demonstrations came after a group of people set fire to a ticket machine inside Tin Sau Light Rail (LRT) station on Saturday.

“They even poured suspected flammable liquid onto the blaze,” the government said in a statement, adding that some protesters threw trash cans onto a track while a train was passing through in the other direction.

UK: Hospitals to Deny Care to “Racist” or “Homophobic” Patients

What could possibly go wrong?

Patients deemed to be “racist” or “homophobic” will be denied care in NHS Trust hospitals under new rules set to take effect in April.

“Currently, staff can refuse to treat non-critical patients who are verbally aggressive or physically violent towards them,” reports Sky News. “But these protections will extend to any harassment, bullying or discrimination, including homophobic, sexist or racist remarks.”

Police will also be given new powers to prosecute “hate crimes” committed against NHS staff.

What is determined to be “racist” or “homophobic” is anyone’s guess, since many elderly patients will be totally unfamiliar with modern politically correct speech codes and could be deemed to have behaved in a racist or homophobic way even if they didn’t maliciously intend to.
