Theory on Blagojevich and Patrick Fitzgerald
One thing that always stuck in my head about Rod Blagojevich was the wiretap in which he said "I've got this thing and it's fucking golden, and, uh, uh, I'm just not giving it up for fuckin' nothing. I'm not gonna do it. And, and I can always use it. I can parachute me there."
I know the story was that was about the senate seat and his ability to just take the senate seat for himself. However along with this quote "[I]f anybody wants to tape my conversations, go right ahead, feel free to do it. I appreciate anybody who wants to tape me openly and notoriously; and those who feel like they want to sneakily, and wear taping devices, I would remind them that it kind of smells like Nixon and Watergate."
That makes me think he KNEW he was being wiretapped and that was a direct threat to expose whatever he was involved in if "they" tried to pick him up for this.
Couple that with Victoria Toensing' statement "[make] extrajudicial comments that pose a serious and imminent threat of heightening public condemnation of the accused" relating to Patrick Fitzgerald' comment "[the] conduct would make Lincoln roll over in his grave" was that a threat to blagojevich that if he rolled he'd be in a grave?
