Soooo sorry your family had to endure this hell. Happy for you and them that they have been able to overcome it all.

Several years ago I was fortunate enough to be able to intervene in my then 19 yr old grandson's life before he was taken in by this crap.

He went to the emergency room for a SORE THROAT. The idiot Dr. there prescribed him Hydrocodone for the "pain" of his SORE THROAT without telling him diddly squat about the pain med she was prescribing. NOTHING NADA NO warning whatsoever about how powerful this painkiller is. He had no idea what he was about to step into.

Took his 1st dose and when it hit him he just so happened to be standing a few feet from me. I asked him what was wrong not knowing what he had been prescribed. He told me he had just taken his medicine. I asked what the medicine was and he didn't know. Had him bring it to me and at that point found out just WHAT had been prescribed to him. I was PI$$ED!

Immediately sat him down and educated him. We properly disposed of it and he turned to Tylenol for his sore throat pain which served it's purpose just fine.

Now he tells Drs he's allergic to opiods when the subject of pain meds come up. He knows now to do his own research on ANY med prescribed to him and to NEVER totally trust anybody 100%, Dr or not, with his healthcare.
