Don't feel like digging right now on it, but another piece of the puzzle has to do with the fact that the ChiComs are NOT looking for an intermediate host. Direct bat to human transfer doesn't occur. During SARS outbreak, they searched for and found the intermediate species, thus slowing SARS spread. So they understand the concept, and know how to do it.
Not so this time.
