Loop capital is always a hot topic…

Tony Rezko is also a good one because he was the money man for a few people. The Obama's got a sweet deal on a south side manse in the Kenwood neighborhood (near the Farrakhans, Ali's, et al) as a "gift" from Rezko. The Obamas went to the White House. Rezko went to jail. It's how things are done.

The Chicago Sun Times covered everything at the time, but paywall.

For the uninitiated, Chicago is run by the Democratic machine Richard J Daley built. His son, also Richard, ran it after a flurry of joke mayors. Richard (Jrs) brother is Bill Daley, who was Obama's Chief of Staff. For a spell. He made the big money for awhile and lost the Mayor's race last year. Blagojevich started as a Chicago alderman and worked his way up to Gov. He went to prison with damn near every Illinois resident happy about it. It's almost a point of pride how many governors have gone to jail.

illinoispolicy.org has been floating story after story about the FBI rolling up and politicians, and Madigan, the senator who runs the state, has two investigations running through his office. Pension funds are a thing in IL, like they were for Hoffa & the mob.

And Obama came from there. As did Saul Alinsky's book, as did a young HRC, who also read it.

Maybe it's something in the water. Lake Michigan is a melted glacier, you know. Global warming, they say.
