I'm in a very similar boat to yours and my personal opinion is that you should see how this all plays out over the coming months, to see if options open up down the road, I wouldn't go the loan route. You got peeps to socialize with here for the now, although I definitely know how lonely it is not having like-minded friends up close and personal.
I read some years ago about Russians moving here, Brooklyn in one of the instances described, to have children raised and totally acculturated. If it walks like an American (we do have a culturally-specific way of moving, just like other places have their own) and talks like an American, well, by golly, it could be maneuvered to take over a CEO position. Other countries, including our own, must use this same technique, it makes for an international, no allegiance to any flag kind of population. Not saying straddling borders is bad, it's about intent.
