hard to know how to reply to a post like yours, anon, because you seek an answer from Q and that is not me. also, what can we say to you to help?
all i can tell you is that, in my experience, the place to start is by looking at what your own role and responsibility is in this situation (as far as helping your friend and dealing with the dangers involved). i say this bc in the past, i would tend to jump in to help a friend, not always wisely - because i never paused to look from a wider perspective or really look deeply into my own motivations and responsibilities. whatever you do, please be extremely careful.
Yes, there is ALWAYS something to be done. But it may or may not be what you wish could be done. Or be done right away. Godspeed.
