The Democratic political establishment has a new fundraising foe– and she’s from their side of the aisle.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s new political action committee, Courage to Change, will back progressive challengers to more moderate Democratic candidates.

“Courage to Change will be directly donating to these candidates, raising them money via email and social, also working to recruit volunteers,” said Corbin Trent, a campaign spokesman for AOC.

AOC, a powerhouse fundraiser who brought in the most money of any House Democrats last fall, says her organization will counter “corporate interest, elite donors and insular party power structures,” on the Courage to Change website.

Brandon Puttbrese, spokesman for the Tennessee Senate Democratic Caucus, said, "We’ve been made aware of the investigation and have received no indication that it relates to the legislature or her legislative service.Because the investigation is ongoing, we will not be making additional statements and will defer any further questions to Sen. Robinson’s attorney. Our thoughts are with Sen. Robinson and her family."

According to its website, The Healthcare Institute was founded by Robinson in 2015. It received at least $1.6 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the website said.

The website said, "With no formal training or education in grant writing, Katrina wrote her own grant proposal and successfully secured [the grant]. This funding is used to provide scholarships for people like those that she mentored looking for a jumpstart to their education."

In 2019, Robinson was quoted in the Memphis Business Journal saying that the school was seeking Title IV approval from the U.S. Department of Education.
