the proposed Nord Stream II pipeline project (Russia-to-Germany) as an initiative that would undermine European energy security by enhancing Russia's already dominant position over the European natural gas market, solidifying Moscow's political leverage over European member states. In particular, we have had grave concerns of the negative impact that Nord Stream II would have on Ukrainian economic stability, given that the projects would provide Gazprom the technical capability to make good on its threat to eliminate gas transit through Ukraine by the end of the decade.
