(Is the US government barrister arguing against a free press?)

Reporting for journalism is not an excuse for breaking laws, lawyers acting for the US government have said on the first day of a legal battle over whether the WikiLeaks founder can be extradited from the UK.

The US case was opened on Monday at Woolwich crown court in south-east London by James Lewis QC, who said that by disseminating material in an unredacted form Assange knowingly put human rights activists, dissidents, journalists and their families at risk of serious harm in states operated by oppressive regimes.

“The defence seek to suggest that the risk to these individuals who, by having the individuals revealed as informants, is somehow overstated. I would remind the court that these were individuals who were passing on information on regimes such as Iran and organisations such as al-Qaida.”

From what the US Government barrister is arguing in the Assange hearing, a journalist MUST redact information. And who is in charge of "redaction"? The same people you are reporting on? The US Government is arguing against a Free Press.

When those who "redact" info from the material a journalist is publishing are the same people who have an interest in hiding that information, is this government censorship? Do we have a free press? Do we have freedom of speech?

Is a publisher who was given the information liable for publishing it without "redaction"?

Dick Morris, a former adviser to Bill Clinton, predicted Sunday that Michael Bloomberg and Hillary Clinton are plotting a “scheme” that would allow Clinton to become the 2020 Democratic nominee.

Speaking with radio host John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable,” Morris said that he believes Bloomberg will continue to campaign and spend loads of cash to syphon support from Sen. Bernie Sanders and trigger a brokered convention.

“Here’s the deal that I think is going down. I think Hillary and Bloomberg have gotten together and cooked up a scheme,” Morris said.

Nobody will be nominated on the first ballot, and it’ll go to a second ballot. Now, the problem is that the party establishment doesn’t have a candidate. They can’t do Bloomberg because he got killed in the debate. … Can’t do Biden because he’s already lost the frontrunner status. … Buttigieg looks like a high school kid at the Model UN, and he’s not gonna be able to have it, certainly not against Trump. Warren is third, but she’s pretty far to the left, and people are not gonna want to— they’re not going to want to trust her.

And when you put it together, it will go to a second ballot and then I think Hillary Clinton enters the race. And the superdelegates will all leave who they are for and go to Hillary.
