Sadly, despite the fact that African Americans are the target of abortion some Blacks are promoting it in Tennessee even speaking for it in local churches.

The Black Group, SisterReach clearly advocates for abortion and Planned Parenthood:

Sister Reach’s board consists of Elizabeth Dorse-Merriwether, Jasmine Burnett, Tomeka Hart, Orisha Bowers, La Tonia Denee Blankenship.

According to her Linkedin page, Sister Reach board member Jasmine Burnett was the ACA Outreach Organizer for Planned Parenthood Federation of America until earlier this year. A cached version of a Planned Parenthood newsletter shows Tomeka Hart speaking on their behalf ( read here), Orisha Bowers is featured in this Planned Parenthood newsletter( here) as well as their Pinterest page (here.)

According to an article in The Nation, Sister Reach has been a presence on local historically black campuses, registering voters at Tennessee State University’s homecoming and planning a forum for this week at LeMoyne-Owen College on Amendment 1.

SisterReach has been busy in churches, a critical place they believe they will reach black voters in Tennessee.

The organization’s interfaith coordinator has found that one way to reach people in the pews to oppose restricting abortion in the state is to invoke scripture. “She’s showing in the Bible where women were self-determining and that was okay, whether we’re talking about Deborah or Tamar or Queen Vashti,” Sister Reach spokesperson Cherisse Scott told The Nation.
