Probably because our planet is a part of a solar system, that's part of a galaxy, that's part of a Universe, and they think they can control it all by keeping us in the dark about it, while they make bank off the "theories" they propose to us, which are intended to steer us away from the obvious Truth, which they claim they are "protecting" us by hiding it from us.
