I heard, of read, or maybe both heard and read that the scary/handkerchief is used to clean up fluid, specifically sperm. Which is so sick. But it makes sense. It would make a viable blackmail option. Idk how such would be used to blackmail in the 1940s. Certainly not as well as today, with DNA testing. It’s horrendous.
