The original paper that got people thinking that it targeted certain Asian populations was a non-peer reviewed Chinese paper with a very small sample size of 7 or 8 people. Another paper (also not peer reviewed) came out that had a larger sample size of around 200 and that showed it was non-specific to any populations.
