>>8263338 (pb) Greek Civil Rebellion against invaders

>They are stealing animals and butcher them in the streets. Even pets. They cut down olive trees for firewood. They break into homes and mug old people. They sexually assault women. They roam the streets and terrorize the population.

The island of Chios is also involved in this invasion. Chios should be a protected site because it offers a healing substance available only there.

On the south side of the island of Chios grow mastic trees, the source of the world's original chewing gum. Chewing this gum kills H. Pylori (which cause stomach ulcers) and cleans teeth and breath. Mastic was chewed by ancient Egyptian pharaohs and others who could access and afford it. Mastic gum can be applied directly to a flesh wound to cleanse it and prevent infection, as well as speeding up the healing process.

The sap of the mastic trees is harvested without harming the trees. This is true only for mastic trees which grow on Chios; mastic trees growing elsewhere don't have the right conditions for the sap to drip from shallow scratches like they do in Chios. A mastic tree requires 40 years to grow before it's able to sustain regular harvesting of its sap.

If these trees are savaged for firewood or spiteful arson, the world will lose a sustainable and very valuable natural remedy.
