Maybe, but.

 

Those are all EDM festivals. You aren't going to music festivals where you are seeing rock bands playing guitars. You are going to watch Electronic Dance Music. Where people play tracks and wave their hands in the air while a fuck ton of bass and a fuck ton of lights are all swirling around.

 

Go to different shows, see rock bands, and you'll be fine. Stop seeing, I dunno, Skrillex? (I don't pay attention to that stuff, I do think that Skrillex was at one point popular in that field.)

That EDM stuff seems messed up to me, but not all of the Festival choices people have are EDM festivals.

 

The festivals with EDM, rap, and top 40 - the festivals where the draw is thumbing bass and a ton of Pretty Lights - that's where you might get the fucked up stuff. But there are also a who lot of much more normal music festivals where there are bands playing rock. Most people prefer real music / rock / real instruments played by real people, live.

Maybe that's it. I read somewhere a couple years back that the NFL would not be paying for acts. They would be paid by the acts. Pay to play.

 

Currently there are quite a lot of old bands who are playing arenas, MLB stadiums and NFL stadiums that people would much rather see than dance to track Top 40.

 

If someone 5 or 10 years ago said "oh, it could be better than this", nowadays it's "there is a long long list of bands that would be much much better than what we currently have." It just wouldn't be difficut to do better than middle aged women that no one pays money to see, and no one has paid money to see in over a decade.

 

It really shouldn't be hard for the NFL to look at Pollstar and look at who is playing arenas, NFL and MLB stadiums and get them.
