I was offering the anon another opinion. I'm not the NYT.
Open source in itself means anyone can alter and therefore inject malware/random exit points in to said code.
You think an anon who cant even figure out how to get to this site properly can write his own TOR code. He is using something somebody else wrote. Sounds super safe.
You and others might be able to decipher the code. Do you think the layman can?
