Gov. Bill Lee announces bill to allow Tennesseans to carry handgun without permit if over 21 years old

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Governor Bill Lee announced an administration bill Thursday that would all law-abiding citizens in Tennessee to carry a handgun without a permit if they're over 21 years old.

It would let citizens carry everywhere with the exception of some restricted areas.

Gov. Lee said the bill would also increase penalties for those who steal or unlawfully carry a firearm — increasing safety for all Tennesseans.

Russia, Turkey Are on the Edge in Syria

MOSCOW - Tensions between Russia and Turkey over their sometimes allied and often dueling military campaigns in Syria broke into the open Friday, with Moscow blaming Ankara for the deaths of 33 Turkish troops in Syria’s Idlib region during airstrikes.

While Russia denied any role in the deaths of the Turkish soldiers, the Kremlin accused Turkish forces of operating unannounced in the region — and of providing support to terrorist groups subsequently targeted by Moscow’s ally, the Syrian government.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said President Vladimir Putin had met with his Security Council in the wake of the attacks, with Russian generals informing Putin that raids by terrorist groups against Syrian forces in Idlib had prompted airstrikes.

It’s unclear what role the Democratic presidential frontrunner may have had in the NDA, but it could damage him politically, particularly among African-Americans in South Carolina who vote Saturday in the fourth state contest.
