Exposing the Sham of Big Pharma

Hyperhomocysteinemia/Homocysteinuria is characterized by an increased level of toxic homocysteine (Hcy) in the plasma.

While increased homocysteine levels can cause symptoms such as osteoporosis and eye lens dislocation, high homocysteine levels have been most closely associated with cardiovascular complications. However, more recent research has shown that increased plasma Hcy can also be a fundamental cause of neurodegenerative diseases (including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia), diabetes, Down syndrome, megaloblastic anemia, and has also been shown to be closely related to cancer.

While the medical establishment states that plasma concentrations of homocysteine between 5–15 μmol/L are normal in healthy individuals, Dr. Dale Bredesen who wrote the book "the end of Alzheimer's" recommends lowering your levels to 6 umol/L or below.

Most physicians recommend taking folate and vitamin B12 treatment to lower homocysteine levels, but this is not always effective. The natural compound betaine (Trimethylglycine) is also quite effective and offers other benefits few physicians even know about.

Anyway, I was shocked to find a pharmaceutical company selling betaine as an expensive drug, when it can be sourced inexpensively at your local health food store.

BTW, betaine will never be approved by the FDA for the treatment of a neurodegenerative disease associated with hyperhomocysteine even if it was found to work. Why? Big Pharma is holding out for some expensive bullshit treatment that will make them 10-100 billion/year.
