The gas pressure at that height is so low that the thermal mass of the gas molecules is almost zero. Yes, each molecule has a very high temperature, but there are so few of them that they just canโ€™t increase the temperature of the satellites very much. The main thermal load to satellites are from sunlight and their own internal power usage, heat transfer from the very thin traces of gas in the thermosphere just arenโ€™t significant.
