I was talking to a young woman in her late 20s or early 30s. One of my son's friends. Somehow the conversation led to me saying that my mom used to darn socks. She had no idea what I was talking about. Even as I tried to explain it to her, she continued to have a perplexed look on her face.

But I remember 8 tracks, and transistor radios and my dad used to fix our TV by putting in a new picture tube.

At the end of POTUS's press conference today, someone asked when the troops would start coming home from Afghanistan, and POTUS said, "today"

I hadn't thought of that, but yes, if their tour of duty is over, and they are entering civilian life, that's perfect. Soldiers coming out of the military often have a hard time finding a civilian job bc the job that they did in the military was probably not of any, or much of any, demand in civilian life.

I'm so tired frens.
