Charles Q. Brown, Jr. MILITARY. Charles Q. Brown, Jr., received a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, Texas, and master of aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. His military education includes the United States Air Force Fighter Weapons School, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada; Squadron Officer School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama; Distinguished Graduate Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell; Air War College at Maxwelle; and National Defense Fellow, Institute for Defense Analyses, Alexandria, Virginia. Brown was a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Texas Tech University and received a commission in the U.S. Air Force in 1984. He has held various squadron and wing level positions during operational assignments, including instructing in the F-16 Division, U.S. Air Force Weapons School. His staff tours include aide-de-camp to the chief of staff of the Air Force and Air Operations Officer, United States Central Command. Colonel Brown commanded the 78th Fighter Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. He was a national defense fellow at the Institute for Defense Analyses, Alexandria, Virginia, and deputy chief, Program Integration Division, Directorate of Programs, Headquarters, United States Air Force in Washington, D.C. Prior to his current assignment, he was the commandant for the U.S. Air Force Weapons School, 57th Wing, at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. Colonel Brown is the commander of the 8th Fighter Wing at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea. He commands more than 2,700 personnel, four groups and 15 squadrons, including two F-15 fighter squadrons.
