"Greater than unity"…sure.
The constant acceleration of electrons through a circuit converts some of the potential energy to be converted to infra-red radiation (heat). Tossing coils and diodes into the circuit NECESSARILY increases resistance, causing more potential energy to be converted into heat. If your source of potential energy is a chemical reaction battery, its internal resistance + the heat released during the chemical reaction (it's why rapidly discharging batteries get hot) is also lost. That energy is called lost or waste and even a system that makes use of that waste heat cannot capture 100% of it because of entropy. So anyone claiming "unity" or better yet "above unity" has gone full retard.
