The Swedish films, adapted from the original books, were much better than this Hollywood release. Try them too if you haven't: "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", “The Girl Who Played with Fire", and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest".
Unfortunately, “The Girl in the Spider’s Web" is like a clip-on version of the nose ring that its central character wears. A simulacrum that tries to evoke the edge and danger of the real thing, without even the slightest amount of genuine commitment.
