mound on right is likely an old house, 1700s/early 18s. Start digging, I bet you'll find some coal in the area. I investigated something similar, hit it with a metal detector, found the 'coal shoot' for the old house, some old axeheads and similar dross, and made a quick buck on some pewter, and ceramic items left by the previous owners.

could be, but this looks to me like an abandoned and buried foundation. Look how sharp the corners are. The change in vegetation is a clue too. What sold me on the old house was how close it was to the road, super common back then. The one i excavated was in a similar situation, about 15 feet off an old county road (also abandoned), they built really close to the roads before cars, they had to get carts in and out, and the coal companies at the time (according to period diaries) would not go too far to re-up their furnaces. Again, it was a cart based economy, moving things was really hard.

……I was hoping it was going to be an indian burial mound and it was disappointing but i learned alot.
