What was not discussed at the Supreme Court today:
If the President can't fire the chairman of the Federal Reserve at will, what's to stop the Fed chairman from trying to depose a sitting president using interest rate hikes to destroy the economy?
Hypothetically speaking.
While perhaps some in the Legislstive a Branch may not want a sitting president to greatly influence interest rates in an election year, the Executive Branch would not want an independent Federal Reserve to have the power to raise interest rates in an election year to depose a political party or a president.
And the latter very much appears to be what we saw in 2017-2018 by the Fed chairman.
Can we discuss the other side of the same coin?
Has Jerome Powell realized yet that as a first or second degree connection to the president throughout 2016-2019 that he and the entire Fed Board would have been swept up in any FISAs?
And if the AG was made aware of a conspiracy to manipulate interest rates to affect an election or the president's popularity, that he would have to inform the president?
Would that scenario be, "For cause"?
