Amazon said in an email Tuesday an employee tested positive for COVID-19 at a building based in Seattle. The company said the employee went home Feb. 25 and has not returned to the Amazon offices since.

"The affected employee remains in quarantine and we are supporting them as they recover," Amazon said in the email.

Amazon notified employees who were in close contact – defined as closer than six feet over a long period of time – with the infected employee. The risk of transmission for other Amazon employees was deemed as "low," the company said in the email.

And Indeed, which has offices in Seattle and Austin, also said its workers would be working remotely until further notice.
