a) It came from natural contact with wildlife
b) The were studying in it in a lab and it leaked out.
c) It was intentionally released
It's impossible for us to know for sure. The location of the outbreak, near a lvl4 lab, favors 'b' and 'c'. But I think 'c' is unlikely because I see no benefit to anyone. Possibility 'a' is not unreasonable. The lab is located in Wuhan because that's where SARS started. And SARS started there because that where the bats are.
