Over 1.8 Million Republican Texans Voted for Donald Trump in Unopposed Presidential Primary

President Donald Trump did not face a serious Republican challenger in Texas, but he still earned nearly two million votes in the state for his re-election.

Trump received 1,871,515 total votes in the Texas Republican primary on Tuesday, with 99.5 percent of the vote reporting.

That’s more than the top four remaining Democrats combined, as currently former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Michael Bloomberg, and Elizabeth Warren have earned a total of 1.7 million votes in Texas, with 91.3 percent of the vote reporting, although the Democrat votes are still being counted.

Trump received the most votes ever for an incumbent president running in Texas.

Fifteen years ago, 635,948 Republican Texans voted for then-President George W. Bush in the 2004 Republican primary. In 2012, 520,410 Democrats voted for then-President Barack Obama in their primary.

Supreme Court Rules Illegal Aliens CAN Be Prosecuted For Identity Theft

In a 5-4 decision, a divided U.S. Supreme Court ruled that foreigners who are in America illegally can be prosecuted for the crime of identity theft.

While the ruling seems like a no brainer, the court was divided because the case involved the Immigration Control and Reform Act, which says any information provided on an I-9 work form can’t be used by law enforcement in any way — and that includes as evidence in a criminal case.

“The Immigration Control and Reform Act (IRCA) makes it a federal crime to lie on the I-9 work authorization form, while limiting how the false information can be used,” Fox News reported. “Federal law also says information “contained in” the I-9 cannot be used for law enforcement other than specified exceptions — but the Supreme Court ruled that if workers use the same information in tax documents, they can face charges.”

Jeff Sessions forces runoff in Alabama GOP Senate primary

March 4 (UPI) – Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions failed to win enough votes in Alabama Tuesday night to advance to November's election against incumbent Democrat Doug Jones, but he's still in the race.

With about 97 percent of the vote counted, Sessions has won 31 percent of ballots in the state's Republican primary for U.S. Senate. Former college football coach Tommy Tuberville has won 32 percent. The two are separated by about 8,000 votes.

The split means the two advance to a runoff on March 31, which will send the winner to face Jones in the general election. To avoid a runoff, one of the candidates needed to earn at least 50 percent of the vote.

Inside the Cuban Hospitals That Castro (and Bernie) Doesn’t Want Tourists to See

"The regime has neither provided Cubans with equality nor fairness in health care. The ruling elite, their relatives and friends, get better service than the rest," Molina lamented

As Cuba has become an issue in the U.S. Presidential election, we have thought it useful to republish the PanAm Post’s own research on Cuba’s healthcare system:

By the time I climbed the steps of the emergency room entrance in San Miguel, Havana, I could already tell that the supposed first-class health care provided in Cuba was a myth. Hospitals in the island’s capital are literally falling apart.

Less than 2 percent of Harvard faculty are conservative, survey finds

A recent survey of Harvard University faculty found that just 1.46 percent identify as conservative or very conservative.

Meanwhile, a combined 79.7 percent of Harvard's faculty identifies as either liberal or very liberal.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) didn't do as well as she'd hoped on Super Tuesday but it was a much different story among Harvard faculty.

Even though Warren came in third in Massachusetts overall, her popularity among faculty of arts and sciences at Harvard University, where she once taught and where her husband still teaches, is strong. According to a recent survey by the Harvard Crimson, 44 percent of Harvard faculty supported Warren heading into Super Tuesday. Sen. Bernie Sanders had the support of 20 percent of the Ivy League school's faculty.

The Crimson distributed a 74-question survey to 1,000 of its faculty members in February. In addition to asking who they supported for the Democratic nomination for president, the survey asked faculty members about their overall political ideology. A combined 79.7 percent said they were either "liberal" (41.3 percent) or "very liberal" (38.4 percent). Just under 20 percent of faculty, or 18.9 percent, said they identify as "moderate" while just 1.46 percent said they were "conservative and very conservative."

In a letter to the campus community, the president of the university cited the bell's ties to slavery.

Tulane University has removed its iconic Victory Bell from campus after officials learned of the bell's ties to slavery.

"It is terribly disheartening to learn that it is, in fact, a vestige of a horrific part of our nation's past," Tulane University President Mike Fitts wrote in a letter to the campus community, according to the student newspaper Tulane Hullabaloo. "Now that we understand its history as an instrument of slavery, continuing to use this bell in a celebratory manner would run counter to our values."

South Korea authorizes raid of Shincheonji amid COVID-19 outbreak

March 4 (UPI) – South Korea's justice minister signaled support for a government decision to raid the offices of Shincheonji, the secretive religious organization that is being held responsible for the steep rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the country.

Choo Mi-ae, who has been at odds with South Korea's prosecution after replacing top prosecutors investigating corruption scandals, said she approved the decision to search and seize documents from the church, Yonhap reported.

Shincheonji's branch in the central South Korean city of Daegu has been widely blamed for spreading the disease among its congregants and the city. The group is also accused of not cooperating with authorities. According to local news network MBC on Wednesday, Shincheonji's list of members is still incomplete despite government demands for a full disclosure.

Major MILESTONE as scientists use CRISPR gene-editing in patient’s body for first time

Scientists have used the controversial CRISPR gene-editing technique on DNA on live tissue inside a person's body for the first time, in a landmark procedure that could dramatically change the field of medicine.

The world-first procedure involved injecting the gene-editing tool into the patient's eye, in the hopes of restoring their sight lost to a rare genetic disorder.

Preliminary results are expected within weeks, while a more comprehensive assessment of how much, if any, sight was restored will take two to three months.

“This dosing is a truly historic event — for science, for medicine, and most importantly for people living with this eye disease,” said Cynthia Collins of Editas Medicine, which developed the treatment.

The CRISPR technique has been used to rewrite genetic code for many years now, but had only seen limited applications on patients with cancer, sickle cell disease and other genetic disorders, and never in live patients… until now.

Previously, cells to be edited were removed from the patients' bodies, worked on using CRISPR, after which the edited cells would be reintroduced into the patients' bodies, usually to attack a cancer or help reinsert a missing protein.

Doctors at the Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon injected with drops carrying billions of copies of a human-engineered virus which would help to create the CRISPR biological machinery required within the patient’s eye itself. In this instance, the patient lives with a condition called Leber congenital amaurosis which destroys light-sensing cells in the retina.

The majority of patients with this condition are considered legally blind and can typically only differentiate between light and dark, and are sometimes capable of detecting movement.

Google, The ‘Creepy Line’ And The 2020 Elections

Google has the power to sway elections, but is it already using it in the 2020 election cycle? The nature of the ‘creepy line’ is comparable to the ‘Twilight Zone’, where reality and illusion are blurred to the point that it is impossible to know for sure. ⁃ TN Editor

The Creepy Line is a particularly sinister term used in an unguarded remark by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt in 2010. In hindsight, what is most disturbing about the comment is how casually he explained Google’s policy regarding invading the privacy of its customers and clients.

“Google policy on a lot of these things,” Schmidt says about 45 seconds into the introduction, “is to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it.” Time pointer needed.

The Creepy Line is an 80-minute documentary available through several options available at the link below. For now, it is available for free at Amazon Prime, but I’m not sure how long it will be offered there considering many current concerns regarding censorship of anti-establishment themes on various social media platforms. This film offers a very frank look at the number one source of news in our country: Facebook and Google.

And so it begins, U.S. troops start to withdraw from Afghanistan

Hardly a week has passed since the conditional peace treaty between the U.S. and the Taliban, and American troops are already leaving the country.

Despite evidence that the Taliban have resumed attacks on Afghan government forces, U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper has given the order for the United States to begin withdrawing troops from Afghanistan.s.

Esper, speaking to the media on Monday, said that the troop withdrawal order to Army Gen. Scott Miller, the commander of U.S. forces in Kabul, is in keeping with the peace deal with the Taliban. The peace deal calls for an American troop reduction to begin within 10 days of the deal’s signing.

“My instructions to the commander [were]: ‘Let’s get moving, let’s show our full faith and effort to do that,'” Esper said in Washington with the Joint Chiefs General Milley also in attendance. “I’ve said on many occasions that I’m comfortable we can still conduct all the missions we need to conduct [with] 8,600 [troops].”

The Americans are to cut 4,000 troops in Afghanistan within the first 135 days according to the terms of the deal. There are currently 13,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan; the remaining 8,600 would leave within 14 months.

WHO Urges People To Go 'Cashless' Because 'Dirty Banknotes Can Spread The Virus'

t looks like the Chinese started something…

Following reports that Beijing had "quarantined" dirty cash, the WHO warned on Monday that the virus could survive on banknotes, potentially spreading Covid-19 within communities, and across the world. To reduce the risk of being infected by money, the NGO advised citizens in countries struggling with outbreaks to favor digital payments when possible, the Daily Telegraph reported.

That the WHO is telling the public to avoid cash is hardly a surprise: research has found that coronaviruses have been found to live on surfaces for as long as 9 days.

During the statement, a WHO spokesman referenced a Bank of England study claiming that banknotes "can carry bacteria or viruses" and urged people to wash their hands. Other studies have shown that 90% of US $1 bills had bacteria present, and one Swiss study found that viruses had survive on the faces of Swiss francs for days.

Chinese authorities track people’s phones as some return to work

Authorities in China are using big data gleaned from popular social media apps to step up surveillance of hundreds of millions of people caught up in the coronavirus epidemic.

Anyone who visits an office building, shopping mall, or residential compound, or who rides the subway in certain regions of the country not currently on lockdown, could be asked to scan a QR code with their phone and fill in details about their travel history and body temperature.

The data is being combined with the nationwide facial recognition and surveillance camera network known as Skynet, and personal details used to log payments via WeChat and other apps, RFA has learned.

Zhang Maolin, a resident of Jiujiang city in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangxi, said his region is among those stepping up surveillance of people using their phones.

Coronavirus Exposes Globalization’s Downside Amid Protective Equipment Shortages

Experts say personal protective equipment shortages in the United States reveal dangerous levels of over-reliance on globalized supply chains.

“I’ve been preaching the same message since 2007,” said Mike Bowen, founder of the Secure Mask Supply Association, an organization that for years has been raising the alarm about the United States being at the mercy of foreign government-controlled production facilities of personal protective equipment that is critical in fighting epidemics.

“For fourteen years, I’ve warned about America’s foreign-controlled mask supply,” he told The Epoch Times in an email.

Bowen, who also runs Prestige Ameritech, the nation’s biggest surgical mask manufacturer, said he has been working flat out since the outbreak hit headlines, trying to fill orders for protective masks of the type frontline responders and medical staff rely on when dealing with viral outbreaks like COVID-19.
