Seattle Anon Here

The "virus" freakout is real:

Capitalists: If you can find it buy handsantizer, hand soap, cleaning wipes, toilet paper, Lysol, laundry detergent, Clorox bleach, and eggs. Not even going to mention masks. This is stuff no longer on the shelves or in limited supply. Also so a big hit on frozen potatoes (hash browns). You can sell it all for big money when "virus" hits your town.

Employers: Figure out how to deal with customers facing employees that freak the fuck out when a customer coughs. Imagine employee running from customer. Not sure if I can fire them yet or not. Employees are self quarantining for no real reason other than there is some made up potential threat. IE co-workers knows a nurse, so they need to stay away for 14 days (real).

Commuters: Your life will be awesome! 1/2 my daily commute is gone due to big corporations requiring telecommuting.

Business Owners: Right now seeing major hit to restaurants that win big at lunch. With the overall fear and so many people telecommuting no one is buying lunch. Based on parking lots in suburbs not seeing the same impact at dinner.

Parents: Currently 25% of students not attending school due to freak out. Some schools closing for cleaning or shutting down due to proximity to the "virus". Think about your plan b if you and your spouse work.

I will update as I actually see more. We are early into the freakout, so will be interesting to watch.

Actually shopped this weekend at rural stores in Washington three hours away (I was traveling) because I knew country folks wouldn't freakout. Saw the same thing at the stores other than the eggs and toilet paper. Soap was really hit hard.

What THEY did is put a large densely populated area in and around Seattle with limited stores. Mass housing in small lots in what use to be farm land never equated to more stores. 30,000 people with one grocery store is not uncommon.

Folks aren't concerned about advantage but survival. Limited resources ( grocery stores) equal fear driven hoarding.
