France: Urban centres: Avoid anti-government protests 7 March
Wed, 04 Mar 2020 09:54:21 EST
Members in urban centres should anticipate and avoid protests on 7 March amid increased political tensions following the government's decision at the end of February to bypass parliament and enact pension reforms by decree. Yellow Vests will gather in city centres across the country, while flashpoints for protest against the pension reform include prefecture and institutional buildings. In Paris, participants will gather at Place de la Republique at 10.00 (all times local) and Chatelet-Les Halles at 11.00. The police are liable to use tear gas, water cannon, stun grenades and 'flash-ball' guns to disperse unruly crowds, posing incidental risk to bystanders.
