<PURE water is not a conductor of electricity, it must have some tiny bit of impurity to become an electrolyte.

I know we've been told this for years and years, but an electrolyte is not necessary.

Electricity will flow even in a total vacuum.

There are also the various products of the reaction to be considered.

In the absence of a salt, the product will contain silver particles and silver ions, in a ratio of about 10:1. So if you measure the PPM with a TDS meter, you may see a reading of "1" because the D in TDS only refers to dissolved solids, aka ions.

This is why using a laser to see reflection of the solid (not dissolved) particles is indicated. An ion will not reflect a laser beam.

When salts are present during the reaction, more ions will be present, both silver ions and salt ions.

This is why you can not use a TDS meter alone to measure the concentration of silver in a colloid.

Agreed, Fren. I'm not finding fault with your method, it's just not the one I choose.

The most important thing is that people get to using this stuff because it is amazing.

>In the absence of a salt, the product will contain silver particles and silver ions, in a ratio of about 10:1

This is 50v, 1.5" electrode spacing, 3 hours per quart, pure distilled water, no electrolyte. Ionic content measured before and after the process with a TDS meter, particulate (non-ionic) content estimated against a reference 10ppm particulate product using Tyndall effect generated by a red laser, tested before and after.

I've noted that about half of the time I see WWG1WGA on this board, it has been in an attempt to force others to accept the poster's poor behavior, under the auspices of "…but Q said".

Those people are transparent and can fuck right off.

Never. Room temperature in the dark.

The silver particles are heavy and are only kept suspended in a colloid by the Brownian motion of the water.

Chilling the water will slow the Brownian motion causing the silver to fall out of suspension.

I would be as tempted to steal a cat as a carton of picrelated. They're both disgusting.

You are hoist on your own petard.

A cat that is roaming free is definition 1b. It won't come when I call it, anymoar than a pigeon would.

>You trap my dog/cat and haul it to the pound, and I put your cow in the freezer.

Try that in Texas, you can legally go in the freezer too. Might be for the best.

Probably a natural instinct.

But the hawk actually has to hunt for its food. It's next meal is by no means assured, and certainly won't be put on a plate for it. That's a noble life.
