Yes. Not my point. I was surprised he didn't BELIEVE any of the suggestions. I would have thought one with his background would be more open to what would be possible. The degree is in IT something or other. He knows several languages as well.
Certainly anyone can fill in any numbers and deduct anything they want. But do do file taxes according to the letter of the law, such expenses have to be portioned. Entire amounts are not legit. deductions, only a portion of them depending on work and personal actions. Accountant does it every year for decades.
Perhaps worse are the penalties for inaccurate taxes. $150 for a $20 typo made by the accountant. For the taxes paid on those deductions, it's a significant risk or gamble with larger penalties and fines.
Taxes on say, $1000 in deductions will range between 10%-40%…which means $100-$400.
Penalties and fines can be thousands or tens of thousands.
Is it worth the risk for a few hundred dollars?
