CBP agents arrested a Mexican national driving a car with 46.7 pounds of cocaine and fentanyl hidden inside the front and rear car seats. The seized fentanyl, 5.3 pounds in all, are enough to develop 1.2 million doses that could kill at least 1.2 million people

The suspect had the drugs split in 18 foil covered packets that were concealed inside the front and rear seats of 2007 Gray Toyota Camry.

The seized fentanyl equaled 1.2 million lethal doses.

In total, the illegal narcotics seized by CBP have an estimated street value of $558,000.

The man, whose name was not revealed, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency [DEA].

Fentanyl, the synthetic opioid 100 times stronger than morphine, was the driving culprit, alone accounting for a 45 percent increase in deaths between 2016 and 2017 in the United States.

In November, the DEA reported that Mexican drug cartel were producing large quantities of counterfeit prescription pills laced with synthetic opioid fentanyl with the intent of distributing them throughout North America.
