Regarding Q’s post: rig for red:

The navy states “rig for red” is only used on subs for periscope depth.

On a submarine, rig for red is only for periscope depth operations at night, to allow control room watchstanders eyes to adjust to the darkness topside. No other area on the boat rigs for red.

There’s a scene in Q’s often used older signature of “The Hunt for Red October” where the US sub & the Russian sub both go to periscope depths for backchannel comms!

Ryan asks the US Captain to send a Morse code message to Russian Captain, asking him to confirm with a single ping if defection is his intention, which he does requesting “One ping only pls!” These comms confirmed he was defecting (because the new caterpillar drive technology on his sub sallows it to run silent, run deep, undetected, allowing them the capability of awaiting just off our shores & then swiftly attacking! He hands the sub over to level playing field).

I recall when he took away the hunt for, leaving only red October & we thought it was finding the missing sub. However Q reminds us of multiple meanings!

Is Q or someone else surfacing?

Q can you confirm? One ping only pls! Kek
