The Fund for the City of New York was established by the Ford Foundation in 1968 with the mandate to improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers. The Fund seeks out, adapts, applies and assesses ways to enable government and nonprofit agencies to achieve excellence through its core programs—the Cash Flow Loan Program, the Incubator/Partner Project Program, Technology Consulting, the Sloan Public Service Awards, and the Sloan Awards for Excellence in Teaching Science and Mathematics—and through three strategic initiatives: the Center on Government Performance, the Center for Internet Innovation and E-Community Connect.

Purpose: To shape a global, entrepreneurial, competitive citizen sector: one that allows social entrepreneurs to thrive and enables the world's citizens to think and act as changemakers.

Revenue: (2016) $19,943,688

Fellows (volunteers)

Ashoka identifies leading social entrepreneurs with solutions to social problems who seek to make large-scale changes to society. Ashoka searches for individuals who have vision, creativity, and determination and are motivated by public gain rather than personal gain.

Social entrepreneurs who pass the selection process are called Ashoka fellows. Each Ashoka fellow receives a financial stipend that the fellow can use to pay for their personal expenses so the fellow can fully devote the fellow's time in pursuit of the fellow's innovative social ideas. The size of the stipend is decided on a case by case basis, according to the cost of living in the entrepreneur's local area. The stipend is available for up to three years. The organization is very clear that the stipend is only for living expenses and not for funding the social entrepreneur's initiative or organization.

saw in another bread the empty shelf pic was from an article on Spain. In the US, read comments on US stores with empty shelves due to the corona rush. One person recognized the signage and stated the Target store was likely moving inventory to different aisles (like seasonal or clearance). Another person shared a pic of the tv filming crew and all the merchandise was stacked behind the camera so the shelves were empty.

looked at their website and like all the others associated, a lot of fancy sappy statements but what does the person the do and how do they make a change. None of the websites specify those things.

Organizations that actually help people and teach might say things like

we provide one on one tutoring

we use these education resources or group setting

we offer extracuricular activities or sports x, y, z

But these organizations provide no details how they "invest" philanthropic donations or that they likely recieve some form of government grants. All sound like brainwashing cults.
