Here's an interesting book by a Nun from the 1820s in Montreal. She tells her life story from her birth as a Protestant, loss of father, abandonment by mother, to starting Catholic School as a young girl, and being inspired to join the Convent, Then she tells what really happens in a convent. Her early recollections are of the lecherous activities of the Priests in the confessionals. As she ascends through the ranks, more of the dark dirty secrets of the Catholic Church are revealed. It's every bit as bad as we now surely suspected it to be.
Approx 275 pages. Often dismissed as "anti-catholic propaganda" the tale this book contains reads as true and honest to me. I can't imagine the courage it took to take on the Beast.
