‘We will give a much harsher response’, Erdogan warns Damascus over Idlib

Turkey will take decisive action if the fragile ceasefire recently brokered between Moscow and Ankara in Idlib, Syria is broken, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned.

We will not just retaliate [against] even the smallest attack here [in Idlib], we will give a much harsher response.

His comments come as the US considers intervening in the standoff in northwestern Syria. Washington’s special envoy for Syria, James Jeffrey, has floated the idea of NATO becoming involved. Deploying ground troops should the ceasefire fall apart, however, is not currently on the table, Jeffrey noted. The Turkish president said on Tuesday that Washington has already offered to provide intelligence regarding Idlib.

Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to the Idlib ceasefire last week during an emergency summit in Moscow. In the days prior, fighting between Turkish and Syrian forces in the region risked escalating into a full-blown conflict.

The ceasefire is currently being monitored by the Russian and Turkish militaries, with forces from both countries conducting patrols in contested areas of Idlib.

Harvey Weinstein Gets 23 Years In Prison For Sex Crimes

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison on Wednesday for sexually assaulting two women.

The sentence follows a landmark verdict on February 24, after a jury found that Weinstein raped aspiring actress Jessica Mann at a DoubleTree hotel in 2013 when she was 27-years-old, and forced oral sex on former production assistant Mimi Haleyi, now 42, at his apartment in 2006.

Weinstein’s sentencing was watched in the Manhattan courtroom by all the women who had testified at trial against the once-feared mogul, who was convicted Feb. 24 of rape and committing a criminal sexual act more than two years after explosive news articles about his alleged serial sexual abuse of women.

The producer of films including “Pulp Fiction,” “Shakespeare in Love,” and “Gangs of New York” was found not guilty of the most serious charges: two counts of predatory sexual assault for which he could have been sentenced to life in prison. He also was acquitted of first-degree rape. -CNBC

Weinstein faced a minimum of five years in prison. His lawyer was 'overcome with anger' at the sentence.

Prior to his sentence, Weinstein told the judge "I am totally confused," adding "I think men are confused about all of this…this feeling of thousands of men and women who are losing due process, I’m worried about this country."

"This is not the right atmosphere in the United States of America," he added.

Weinstein said he had “serious friendships” with the two primary accusers in the case, Miriam Haley and Jessica Mann. Both women delivered “victim impact” statements before Burke issued the sentence. Haley, who says she was sexually assaulted by Weinstein in his apartment in 2006, told the judge that she was left emotionally damaged by the incident. -Variety

"It scarred me deeply, mentally and emotionally," said Haley. "What he did not only stripped me of my dignity as a human being and a woman, but it crushed my confidence."

Council on Foreign Relations cancels coronavirus-themed conference in NYC because of…coronavirus

The Council on Foreign Relations has nixed a conference on “Doing Business Under Coronavirus,” apparently not wanting to risk actually doing its business under the coronavirus epidemic laying siege to New York City.

The notorious think tank cancelled the talk, scheduled for Friday, as the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 crept up to 36 in New York on Tuesday. Details of the event were elusive - it’s not listed on the organization’s website, and it’s not clear who was supposed to attend. However, after an unknown number of attendees at both the Conservative Political Action Conference and the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee were exposed to the coronavirus during both gatherings last weekend in Washington DC, the CFR likely opted to err on the side of caution rather than risk infecting its elite invitees. It has cancelled the rest of its roundtable conferences through April 3 as well.

The CFR conference was far from the only event in New York to be struck from the calendar thanks to the epidemic. The New York City Half Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, has been cancelled, while the New York International Auto Show, set for next month, has been moved to late summer. New York Mayor Bill deBlasio appears determined to hold next Tuesday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade, however, even as Boston and Philadelphia cancel theirs.

While New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has called in the National Guard to maintain quarantine in the NYC suburb of New Rochelle, no restrictions have yet been placed on freedom of movement for residents of the city itself. However, the military detachment will enforce a two-week ban on large gatherings within the one-mile “containment area” set up around the Young Israel synagogue where Westchester County’s apparent Patient Zero was a member of the congregation.

New York state has 173 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with the majority (108) located in Westchester County, rather than New York City proper. Thousands of New York and Westchester residents are under “precautionary quarantine,” and dozens are under “mandatory quarantine,” meaning they’ve either tested positive for the virus, had close contact with someone who has, or recently visited an at-risk country and returned with symptoms.

The COVID-19 cases who exposed other AIPAC attendees are believed to have come from the Westchester cluster, according to the Israeli lobbying group, which hosted some 18,000 people at its yearly conclave - including a significant foreign contingent. Israel has adopted one of the most stringent approaches to the epidemic, closing borders and advising its citizens to avoid all travel, but the AIPAC snafu led the country’s health ministry to issue an order to all returnees from “international conferences abroad” to self-quarantine.

Angela Merkel: 70 percent of Germany is getting coronavirus, and there's not much we can do

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was blunt Wednesday in her assessment of how coronavirus will impact her nation: A vast majority of people in Germany will get coronavirus, and there is little or nothing anyone can do about that right now.

What did she say?

"When the virus is out there, the population has no immunity and no therapy exists, then 60 to 70% of the population will be infected," Merkel said, Reuters reported. "The process has to be focused on not overburdening the health system by slowing the virus's spread … It's about winning time."

Potential impact

Germany has a population of about 82 million. Merkel is predicting that more than 57 million people in Germany will be infected with coronavirus. Mortality rates are hard to nail down right now due to the variables of different nations and a continuing lack of adequate testing capability in some places, but even a conservative death rate applied to Merkel's prediction means that more than a half a million Germans could die from the virus.

The virus is especially dangerous for elderly people and those with pre-existing respiratory or immune system issues. In many patients, especially younger ones, the virus may cause only minor symptoms and present no danger.

For some context, Italy has more than 10,000 cases right now, and 631 people have died. The virus is so uncontrolled in Italy right now that the entire country is now under quarantine. Germany has 1,565 cases and three deaths so far.

Don't panic?

Some, like Czech Republic Prime Minister Andrej Babis, feel that Merkel's alarming outlook on coronavirus will just create unnecessary panic, CNBC reported.

The dangerous situation in Europe has caused concern in the United States about what may be coming in the United States, where the virus appears to be spreading rapidly and the ability to test people for it has not yet caught up to demand.

In the U.S., 32 people have died of coronavirus, and there are more than 1,000 known cases.

"I can say we will see more cases and things will get worse than they are right now," Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Wednesday morning according to CBS News.

Lawsuit Reveals Govt Experiment that Gave Kids to Pedophiles to See if Sex Abuse Could Help Them

Starting in 1969 and running through 2003, a sickening and bizarre sexual experiment was carried out by government officials and a pedophile scientist that deliberately placed troubled children in the care of pedophiles to see if it had “positive consequences.” Victims from this utterly horrifying practice have filed a lawsuit which is getting media coverage this month, exposing the grotesque details of this taxpayer-funded pedophilia experiment.

This practice was known as the Kentler experiment — named after Helmut Kentler, an academic who argued that pedophilia could have “positive consequences” on children. The unruly and “feeble-minded” children would benefit from adult sexual attention, according to Kentler.

Despite the absolutely horrid implications of putting children in the care of pedophiles, in 1969, Kentler managed to persuade West Berlin’s ruling Senate that troubled youths would be glad to be put into situations in which they would be sexually abused.

The children would be “head over heels in love” with their new father figures, Kentler claimed.

According to the Sun:

This arranged for boys to move in with three known West Berlin pedophiles so they could then “learn to live proper, unremarkable lives”.

Later he explained he believed the “three men would do so much to help ‘their’ boys because they had a sexual relationship with them”.

It is not clear whether the West Berlin’s Senate voted on the experiment or agreed to it behind closed doors.

For decades, this experiment was secretly carried out and very little was known about it until 2015. When the details started to emerge, according to the Irish Times, it prompted Berlin’s state authorities to commission a youth researcher to review the files and write a report. “The results are sobering,” said Dr Teresa Nentwig of the University of Göttingen who led the research.

“Men who had been convicted of sexual contact with minors were appointed by the Berlin leadership as guardians. Children and young people, who lived on the street before that, had to “pay” for a warm bed, good food and clean clothes, engaging in sexual relationships with their caregivers,” Nentwig said.

Two of the victims are now in line to receive compensation from the Berlin Senate, according to Der Tagesspiegel.

“There is targeted work to ensure that there is a solution that meets the interests of those affected,” said Iris Brennberger, spokeswoman for the education administration. How the compensation will look in detail and who exactly pays it is still open.

One of the victim’s lawyers is reportedly pressing for a lump sum of €100,000 ($113,071) plus a monthly pension of €2,500 ($2,826). Tragically, however, no amount of money will ever be enough to compensate the damage done from deliberately handing vulnerable children over to child rapists.

According to the report:

The legal proceedings refer to one boy called Marco, who had been taken into care in 1989 after fleeing his violent dad. Aged six, he was placed with his foster father, Fritz H, who began going into his room for a “cuddle” which heralded years of abuse. In an interview with Der Spiegel, Marco said for ten years he was repeatedly beaten and raped by Fritz H, until he grew up and fought back.

Another of his victims, known as Sven, was abandoned by his parents at the age of seven and contracted hepatitis B on the streets of Berlin. Authorities in 1990 then gave him to a pedophile and he suffered repeated sexual assaults which were allegedly videoed. Boys in the care of Fritz, who has since died, were kept isolated from the outside world.

Despite the practice reportedly running through 2003, Berlin officials say they have no idea as to who in the agency agreed to run such a monstrous experiment. Despite launching the investigation several years ago, there have been almost no details officially released.

When Kentler died in 2008, he referred to his experiment as a “success” while at the same time admitting he knew he was breaking the law.

“It was a crime to put these people into this kind of care,” Berlin’s youth-affairs minister, Sandra Scheeres said. “It is simply unimaginable that something like this happened with state oversight.”

Hungarian FM: Hungary protects its borders under all circumstances

Hungary will protect its borders “under all circumstances” and will not let in any illegal migrants, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said after talks with Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic in Belgrade on Monday.

Meanwhile, Austria sends police units to the Hungarian-Serbian border and Hungary sends police units to North Macedonia and Serbia.

“For us, the security of the country and the Hungarian people comes first,” he said. The talks focused on border protection as well as the situation in Turkey and Syria, Szijjarto said. He said that developments at the Turkey-Greece border were worrying and suggested that hundreds of thousands of migrants could soon arrive in the Western Balkans.

Szijjarto said he had phoned his Greek counterpart and assured Greece of Hungary’s support.“Hungary knows what it is like when the country’s borders are under an organised attack … while the international liberal media is churning out fake news”.

The current situation also highlights the importance of the European integration of the Western Balkans, Szijjarto said, arguing that “the further south Europe’s defence lines are, the better”. He urged the EU to speed up its accession talks with Serbia, saying that the country was ready to open up five new chapters in those negotiations. Szijjarto called on the EU’s Croatian presidency to give its consent to the accession talks.

Szijjarto also had talks with Serbia’s European affairs minister Jadranka Joksimovic. At a joint press conference after the talks, both ministers spoke highly of bilateral ties, both in political and economic terms, and called Hungary and Serbia strategic partners. Joksimovic also thanked Hungary for its continued support to her country’s endeavours to join the EU.

Bakondi: ‘Massive increase’ in illegal migration since Jan 1

The number of attempts for illegal entry along Hungary’s southern borders “showed a massive increase” in the first two months of the year, Gyorgy Bakondi, chief security advisor to the prime minister, told MTI on Monday.

Bakondi said that 6,597 people had been apprehended at the Hungary-Serbia border since January 1, compared with 1,315 in the same period of 2018 and 1,534 last year.

The advisor noted that 465 illegal migrants attempted to cross the Hungary-Romania border in the same period, up from a mere 12 in 2018 and 33 in 2019. Bakondi added that at present there were 321 migrants in Hungary’s transit zone, while legal proceedings were underway against 86 suspected people smugglers.

Hungary sends police units to Serbia, North Macedonia

Hungary has sent new police contingents to help local forces patrol the borders in Serbia and North Macedonia, the national police said on Monday. The national police headquarters has sent a 30-strong contingent to North Macedonia and a 20-member unit to Serbia. The police officers will be tasked with patrolling the two countries’ borders and helping to arrest people smugglers and illegal migrants, the police said on its website. Some of the Hungarian officers will be posted in the inner parts of the two countries.

Austria to send policemen to Hungary-Serbia border

Austria is sending 21 police officers and two police dogs to serve on the Hungary-Serbia border in support of Hungary’s fight against migration, Interior Ministers Sandor Pinter of Hungary and Karl Nehammer of Austria agreed in Nickelsdorf near the Hungarian-Austrian border on Monday. After the meeting, Nehammer said Austria will also support Greece and the countries on the Balkan route of migration. Austrian forces served at Hungary’s southern border during the migration crisis in 2015, protecting both Hungary and Austria, Nehammer noted.

A migration crisis like the one in 2015 “must be avoided”, he said, adding that the Austrian authorities are much better prepared than they were then. Reacting to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s announcement that Turkey would no longer hold back migrants from Syria on their way to Europe, Nehammer said Turkey must honour its agreement with the European Union. “The EU, Austria and Hungary will not allow to be blackmailed,” he said.

CDC Official: ‘We Do Not Expect Most People to Develop Serious Illness’

Nancy Messonnier, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, told reporters on a conference call on Tuesday that health experts “do not expect most people to develop serious illness.”

In her opening remarks, Messonnier explained that there are two different risk pools for contracting coronavirus.

“Risk can be looked at in two ways,” Messonnier said.“There is risk of being exposed and getting sick from this virus, and there is risk of getting very sick or dying from illness with this virus.”

She explained that because no one can have immunity against a new virus, coronavirus will makes it way through the population.

“Based on this, it’s fair to say that as the trajectory of the outbreak continues, many people in the United States will at some point in time either this year or next be exposed to this virus, and there’s a good chance many will become sick,” Messonnier said.

She also explained who is most at risk for developing a potentially deadly case of coronavirus.

“Reports out of China that looked at more than 70,000 COVID-19 patients found that about 80 percent of illness had — was mild and people recovered,” Messonnier said. “Fifteen to 20 percent developed serious illness.”

“Let’s talk about who those people are,” Messonnier said. “So far it seems like it’s not children.”

“Of the 70,000 cases, only about two percent were in people younger than 19,” Messonnier said. “This seems to be a disease that affects adults. And most seriously older adults.”

“Starting at age 60, there is an increasing risk of disease and the risk increases with age,” Messonnier said. “The highest risk of serious illness and death is in people older than 80 years.”

She said people with serious underlying health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or lung disease “are more likely to develop serious outcomes including death.”

Messonnier called on reporters to tell the public that people should have a plan for their families, including making sure medical prescriptions are filled and basic supplies are on hand.

That said, Messonnier also called on calm and common sense.

“This is a time for people to prepare for what they might need to do but not a time for people to clear out the shelves,” Messonnier said. “And I really want to focus on the United States and the families at highest risk because in the setting where it’s really clear that it is older Americans who are at the highest risk right now, we want to make sure that they’re taking every precaution to prepare themselves so that if there is more widespread transmission, they can stick close to home.”

She also said that masks are not recommended and should be reserved for healthcare workers who will need them when dealing with patients who have coronavirus.

NO CHARGES for Cop Caught on Video Attacking a Child With No Arms or Legs

Tucson, AZ — In a state-run boys home in Tucson, a teenager who was also a quadruple amputee, was roughed up and cussed at by a Pima County deputy. Most of the incident was caught on film and both the teen, as well as his friend who was filming the police contact, were arrested on disorderly conduct charges. This was the first time TFTP has ever reported on a police officer beating a quadruple amputee. As we predicted back in November, despite the horrific video, the cop who attacked the teen got off Scot free.

The Pima County Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday, March 10, it won’t file excessive use of force charges against Deputy Manuel Van Santen.

In regard to the incident, Chief Trial Counsel Nicol R. Green stated there was not “sufficient evidence” to prove excessive force was used:

Such charges would have to be predicated upon evidence sufficient not merely to demonstrate probable cause, but to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the level of force used was excessive. The evidence here is not sufficient to meet that high burden of proof. For these reasons, the Pima County Attorney’s Office declines to file any criminal charges against Deputy Van Santen arising from this incident.

As we reported at the time, the 16-year-old amputee, referred to as I.O. in the investigation was reportedly out of control, had knocked over a trash can, and leaders at the group home called the police for help with the young man. Having no arms nor legs, he was considered threatening enough to involve law enforcement, who came and promptly put an end to the tirade.

Joel Feinman, Pima County Public Defender told KOLD News at the time:

Imagine you were this boy with no limbs who just got tackled by this large man with a badge and gun and this man is now screaming in your face and he’s now threatening your friend who’s recording this whole incident…Absolutely, that’s egregious.

Feinman went one step further, calling for the officer to be terminated. The public defender told KOLD:

Men with badges should not be acting this way…Men and women who do act this way should not have badges and a gun.

This week, we have found out that this will not happen.

The young man had reportedly been abandoned by his parents and forced to live in the group home as a ward of the state. The optics of a healthy lawman subduing a quadruple amputee cannot be understated. It was utterly shocking. Still, the officer was simply “doing his job” and if the boy had all of his extremities, the story would probably not even be newsworthy.

As with any police accountability story we write, the question remains, “Should the officer have apprehended the teenager differently? Is it not humiliating enough to be so low to the ground? The officer wrestled the quadruple amputee to the ground and then the child was humiliated as he was laid down upon by a husky officer of the peace.

Later, he cursed at the teen, further demeaning the young, some could say, helpless teen. After securing the teenager, cops then turned their attention to the friend who was recording the incident, also a teenager. He was detained, and placed in handcuffs, but not before the arresting officer gave a complimentary slam of the young man head’s on the wall.

According to their “investigation,” this slam was also not consistent with excessive force. Although when you watch the video below, you will likely disagree.

Rightfully so, defense attorney’s for Pima County were outraged. Reporters, likewise, reached out to the officer’s superiors for answers. However, their answer has come in the form of inaction and a lack of accountability.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Halting Gun Sales at 440 More Stores

The corporate gun control at Dick’s Sporting Goods continues with the stoppage of firearm sales at 440 additional company stores.

Fox 59 reports that the end of gun sales is part of Dick’s “methodical elimination of firearms from its stores.”

On February 28, 2018–two weeks after the attack on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School–Dick’s announced they would no longer sell “assault rifles” or “high capacity” magazines. They also raised their minimum purchase age for long guns to 21. Slightly less than two months later, Breitbart News reported that Dick’s would be destroying unsold “assault rifles” and “high capacity” magazines rather than sending them back to manufacturers.

By the end of August 2018, sales reports showed that Dick’s gun control stance was hurting business, but instead of doing away with anti-gun policies, Dick’s doubled-down, downsizing inventories of hunting gear as well. The sporting goods conglomerate faced the specter of having to close upwards of 35 stores nationwide, yet they continued to stand their ground on gun control.

On March 13, 2019, Breitbart News reported that sales had dropped enough that Dick’s was pulling all guns from 125 stores nationwide. Now the Fox 59 report makes clear that 440 other Dick’s locations will see guns disappear, too.

On December 11, 2019, Business Insider reported Dick’s CEO Ed Stack talk of how meeting with Parkland families shaped his gun control views. Two days later, Breitbart News reported that Parkland father Andrew Pollack–whose daughter, Meadow, was killed in the attack–made clear that Stack had never talked to him.

Pollack said, “Dick’s CEO Ed Stack didn’t meet with me. He is advocating for universal background checks which wouldn’t have made a difference in my daughter getting murdered. Dick’s will continue to go downhill and lose money under his leadership.”

APRIL 21–In a searing court attack on Charlie Sheen, actress Denise Richards alleges that her estranged husband is unstable, violent, addicted to gambling and prostitutes, and visits pornographic web sites featuring young men and girls who appear underage.

In a remarkable sworn declaration (a copy of which you'll find here) filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court, Richards also charges that Sheen, 40, assaulted her and threatened her life during a December 30 incident at the actress's Los Angeles home. Richards claims that an enraged Sheen–who was over for a visit with the couple's two children–told her she was "fucking with the wrong guy" and called her a series of vulgar names in front of the children.

The actor, Richards said, then shoved her to the ground and screamed, "I hope you f–king die, bitch."

As Richards, 35, tells it, Sheen was angry because she had told her divorce attorney about discovering details of Sheen's porn-surfing practices. Richards's declaration, filed in support of her request for a restraining order against Sheen, contends that Sheen "belonged" to "disturbing" sites "which promoted very young girls, who looked underage to me with pigtails, braces, and no pubic hair performing oral sex with each other."

Other sites visited by Sheen, Richards alleges, involved "gay pornography also involving very young men who also did not look like adults." Richards claims that she also discovered that Sheen "belonged to several sex search type sites" on which he "looked for women to have sex with." His online profile, Richards adds, included a photo of "his erect penis."

The Richards evisceration also portrays Sheen as a lousy father who urged her to abort their first child. And, when she was about to give birth to their second child via a C-section, Sheen's attention was "diverted to his pager for the results of his betting."

To illustrate Sheen's volcanic temper and abusive language, Richards's court filing includes transcripts of six phone messages he allegedly left her last April, while she was pregnant with the couple's second daughter. In one call, Sheen says, "You're a coward and a liar and a fucking nigger alright so fuck you." In a second message, Sheen appears to make a reference to Richards's female attorney when he complains about "two pregnant cunts…plotting against the rest of us." (19 pages)

NORAD posted images and video of the incident on Tuesday.

The Russian jets never left international airspace during the duration of the four-hour flight on Monday, but did come as close as 50 miles of the Alaska coast, likely closest to Utqiagvik, the northernmost community in the U.S. and formerly known as Barrow, Capt. Cameron Hillier, a NORAD spokesman at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, told The Associated Press.

NORAD officials said in the release that the Russian aircraft did not enter U.S. or Canadian sovereign air space.

Russian jets flying near Alaska or Canada are fairly routine, with the last occurring in January. Last May, four Russian bombers and two fighter jets were intercepted near the coast of Alaska.

Hillier said such incursions happen on average between five to seven times a year since Russia restarted the practice in 2007.

Yesterday was quite something with the extraordinary oil price decline topped off by a more than 2000 point fall in the Dow Jones Industrial Average in the United States. Further cuts in the negative interest rate of minus 0.1 percent, which have pushed down longer-term interest rates for years, are expected to snap the profitability of the banking sector and hurt returns for insurers and pensions of private companies.

DNC Asked Twitter To Label Trump Campaign’s Video ‘Manipulated Media’ On Behalf Of Biden Campaign

The Democratic Party flagged a post retweeted by President Trump and asked Twitter — on behalf of the Joe Biden campaign — to take action, according to a new report.

“It was the Democratic National Committee that flagged the video to Twitter, the party committee told The Daily Beast, as part of their program to clamp down on the spread of disinformation in 2020,” The Daily Beast reported.

“This is an example of our ongoing disinformation work, and the same thing that we do for every campaign,” a DNC official said, adding that they “flag activity to each of the campaigns, and have set them up with tools to receive regular activity alerts themselves.”

Speaking to The Daily Beast about their disinformation strategy, a Biden campaign adviser said that their more publicly hands-off approach was by design. The campaign, the adviser said, is partially relying on — and working with — reporters to police content that they flag for being inaccurate or misleading, as part of an “earned media” approach towards correcting disinformation.

That strategy, according to the campaign, helped lead to Twitter, and eventually Facebook, labeling the video as either “manipulated media” or “partly false information” in what the campaign trumpeted as a first.

“We and others took action on a fact-checking front in the press and in terms of directly appealing to Twitter,” the Biden campaign adviser said. “We lifted content online that showed it was false, from the media and generated by ourselves, in order to help achieve a drumbeat.”

Over the weekend, Twitter flagged a post retweeted by President Trump as “manipulated media,” the first time the social media giant has targeted the president for such action.

The Twitter post came from Dan Scavino, the White House’s social media director, and showed former Vice President Joe Biden saying: “We cannot win this re-election, excuse me, we can only re-elect Donald Trump.”

Republican Senator Targets Massive Porn Site, Sends Letter To AG Barr Calling For Investigation

In the wake of surfaced allegations concerning rife sex trafficking and rape of minors on massive porn site Pornhub, Republican Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska penned a letter to Attorney General Barr calling for an investigation into the porn site and its parent company MindGeek.

“In several notable incidents over the past year, Pornhub made content available worldwide showing women and girls that were victims of trafficking being raped and exploited,” Sen. Sasse wrote in the letter, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

In a press release, the senator noted that the “problem of Pornhub streaming content featuring women and children victims of sex trafficking reached the point in November that Paypal cut off services for Pornhub” and argued that “refusing to facilitate this abuse any longer Pornhub must not escape scrutiny.”

“I therefore request that the Department open an investigation into Pornhub and its parent entity MindGeek Holding SARL for their involvement in this disturbing pipeline of exploiting children and other victims and survivors of sex trafficking,” Sasse said.

As noted by the Omaha World-Herald, Pornhub is one of the most visited sites in the nation (ranking at number 34), racking up 42 billion visits in 2019 and averaging about 115 million visits per day.

“Pornhub’s incredible reach has a much darker side than the image of harmless fun that it tries to project,” the Republican wrote in his letter to AG Barr.

In response to Sasse’s letter, Pornhub issued a statement denying the allegations and aligning the senator’s efforts to shut it down with a campaign against the site by “a radical right wing fundamentalist group” whose founders “have long vilified and attacked LGBTQ communities and women’s rights groups, aligned themselves with hate groups, and espoused extremist and despicable language.”

“Pornhub has a steadfast commitment to eradicating and fighting any and all illegal content on the internet, including non-consensual content and under-age material. Any suggestion otherwise is categorically and factually inaccurate,” Pornhub said, according to Nebraska TV. “Our content moderation goes above and beyond the DOJ’s recently announced Voluntary Principles to Counter Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.”

Pornhub, apparently referring a petition with nearly 440,000 signatures calling for the shuttering of their site, added: “The petition is not only factually wrong and intentionally misleading, it was created and is promoted by a radical right wing fundamentalist group in the United States — a group whose founders have long vilified and attacked LGBTQ communities and women’s rights groups, aligned themselves with hate groups, and espoused extremist and despicable language.”

“Pornhub claims that victims of nonconsensual porn — as many of the Girls Do Porn videos are — can easily request to remove videos from the site, and that those videos can be ‘fingerprinted,'” Vice outlined. “Broadly speaking, video fingerprinting is a method for software to identify, extract, and then summarize characteristic components or metadata of a video, allowing that video to be uniquely identified by its fingerprint.'”

“But a Motherboard investigation found that this system can be easily and quickly circumvented with minor editing,” the site explained. “Pornhub’s current method for removing Girls Do Porn videos and other forms of non-consensual porn not only puts the onus of finding and flagging videos almost entirely on potentially-traumatized victims — those victims can’t even rely on the system to work.”

Whisper app which lets people make anonymous confessions online leaves database of 900 MILLION messages exposed with personal data that could leave users open to blackmail

Whisper app encourages people to share intimate details about their lives

An unprotected database containing nearly 900 million messages was found

The messages were tied to ages, location, gender, nickname and more

Messages were found to date back to when the app first launched in 2012

Some were linked to hundreds of military bases all over the world

Experts were able to find millions of messages linked to minors in the bucket

Nearly 900 million confessions and secrets posted to the app Whisper were left exposed on a non-password-protect database open to the public internet.

Although messages were not tied to real names, 'a user's stated age, ethnicity, gender, hometown, nickname and any membership in groups, many of which are devoted to sexual confessions and discussion of sexual orientation and desires' were visible, according to The Washington Post.

The public was able to browse and search through the records, many of which were posted by children – The Post found 1.3 million results were connected to users who listed their age as just 15 years old.

The database was discovered by the advisory group Twelve Security, which said the personal information tied to the messages was enough 'to unmask or blackmail' the user who shared the post.

However, the firm has rejected the findings stating the posts and their ties are 'a consumer facing feature of the application which users can choose to share or not share.'

Flint currently in violation of Federal Safe Drinking Water Act

In a letter to city leaders on March 3, the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy said Flint is in violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Specifically, the city hasn't done enough testing for lead and copper in tap water.

Under the law, the city is required to collect samples from 60 confirmed Tier 1 sites every six months. Those samples must be tested for lead and copper, and the results must be reported to EGLE.

Tier 1 sites are homes with lead service lines.

EGLE found that Flint sampled 123 sites, and only 49 were Tier 1.

According to Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley's office, it's a little more complicated than that.

Neeley says the pool to pick Tier 1 samples from has gotten smaller, as the city has replaced 9,500 water lines and done 25,000 excavations.

Of the homes that are still Tier 1, Neeley says many of the residents aren't interested.

" Sometimes residents don't allow you inside their homes to get tested," said Mayor Neeley. "Sometimes it's problematic when you go into a residential home and ask can you test their water… sometimes they say no."

According to EGLE, the city was out of compliance for during the July - December 2019 monitoring period.

Mayor Neeley took office in November, and says he had a limited amount of time to play catch up.

"We had to really engage this process and really hit the ground running, and we did some really good work," said Neeley. "I'm sure when we have a full cycle under this administration, that we will do much better."

In the letter, EGLE recognized that the city "put forth a significant effort, despite an administration change near the end of the monitoring period, to obtain the requisite samples".

EGLE also applauded the mayor's efforts, going door-to-door, trying to get resident participation.

To return to compliance, the city needs 60 samples from Tier 1 sites from January - June 2020. Samples will need to be submitted to the Drinking Water and Environmental Health Division (DWEHD).

Neeley says they're already halfway toward that.

Ohio plastic surgeon accused of drugging, raping, filming women for years

An Ohio plastic surgeon used sedatives he procured through his practice to drug and rape multiple women, dating back to at least 2013, according to federal authorities who have been investigating him for more than a year.

Manish Raj Gupta, 49, faces federal charges of illegally dispensing controlled substances,

aggravated sexual abuse, and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday in U.S. District Court for Northern Ohio. He was arrested the same day and booked at the Lucas County Corrections Center, the jail's booking commander told NBC News.

The FBI began investigating Gupta, a board-certified plastic surgeon with offices in Toledo and Oregon, Ohio, and one in Michigan, in January 2019, after a woman who worked as a "high-end escort" reported that Gupta had "improperly drugged and then performed sex acts" on her in September 2016.

Email exchanges show Gupta and the sex worker, identified as KB, had arranged to meet at a hotel in Los Angeles, where Gupta would be for a convention, according to an arrest affidavit. In the emails, Gupta outlined his sexual preferences, including his request to film the encounter, which KB declined.

When they met, KB performed consensual oral sex on Gupta, and later was asked to "turn away from him and slowly take off her clothing," the indictment said. "KB believes Gupta could have been recording her because he demanded she do it so many times and because it involved her having her back to him."

Gupta then asked KB to change into lingerie and served her a glass of prosecco.

KB sipped from the glass, and Gupta asked her to insert and remove anal beads, the affidavit said. She does not remember anything after removing the beads.

In the morning, KB drove to the home of a client who is an anesthesiologist, and asked him to administer a drug test. The test showed she had a tranquilizer in her system.

KB then went to a treatment center for a rape test, but after, did not report the incident to police. She did, however, visit two websites that women who date online and work in the sex industry use to report "men who are dangerous," the affidavit said.

Complaints on the websites "dating from March 2013 through September 2016 identify Manish Gupta or Dr. G as a plastic surgeon from Toledo, Ohio, as 'very dangerous,' 'drug user/drug present,' 'raped me during date … he also recorded a video'," investigators said, according to the affidavit.

Another woman said Gupta "drugged me during a date, raped me and recorded all this."

US now openly admits its goal in Syria is to make it 'difficult' for Moscow and Damascus to defeat terrorists

The State Department’s special envoy for Syria has just admitted that the US aims to defend jihadist militants in Idlib against ‘Russian aggression,’ proving once again that the swamp in Foggy Bottom is alive and well.

Russia and the Syrian government “are out to get a military victory in all of Syria,” Ambassador James Jeffrey told reporters on a conference call out of Brussels on Tuesday.

Our goal is to make it very difficult for them to do that by a variety of diplomatic, military, and other actions.

To illustrate these methods, Jeffrey cited the US threat to respond “in a very savage military way” against any chemical attacks, which he described as “a favorite tactic of the Syrian regime in making advances.” This is factually untrue, since the alleged attacks always happen after Syrian Army victories, as a pretext for US intervention.

Jeffrey also noted that there are US and coalition troops in parts of Syria – officially there to fight Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS), but in actuality “guarding” the oil fields. He tellingly described their presence as “a complication” for the Syrian government.

Jeffrey and US ambassador to Turkey David Satterfield were in Brussels after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit, to discuss ways the US and NATO can help Ankara protect its pet militants in their last remaining redoubt – Syria’s Idlib province.

But while Satterfield described Idlib as containing “three million-plus innocent civilians, the majority of whom are women and children,” and accused “Russian aggression” of seeking to displace them, listen to how Jeffrey chose to describe the situation, when asked by a CNN reporter if NATO was considering sending in ground troops:

I think you can forget ground troops. Turkey has demonstrated ably that it and its opposition forces are more than capable of holding ground on their own.

This is either appallingly ignorant or downright delusional, as the Syrian army had successfully rolled up the Turkish-backed militants and the ceasefire Ankara agreed to in Moscow last week confirmed that.

Minnesota city recognizes 'Abortion Providers Appreciation Day' to 'celebrate' abortionists' 'high-quality care'

In St. Paul, Minnesota, Tuesday officially marks "Abortion Providers Appreciation Day" in the city after the city council decided to wade into the national debate on the right to life last week.

According a city council resolution that passed Wednesday, "Abortion Providers Appreciation Day" is meant to "honor the memory" of abortionist David Gunn, killed on March 10, 1993, as well as "to combat the stigma that many abortion providers and clinic staff face, and to celebrate the courage, compassion, and high-quality care they provide."

As reasons for officially setting aside Tuesday as a day to celebrate people who end unborn babies' lives, the resolution said that the Supreme Court "now contains a majority of Justices who may not interpret the Constitution to provide protection for the right to end a pregnancy and may overturn or severely limit Roe v. Wade" and claimed that "abortion providers must be accessible in order for people to make real decisions about their bodies, lives, and futures."

The resolution passed unanimously with a vote of 7-0.

The measure also called abortion "one of the safest medical procedures in the United States" — despite the fact that it must result in the willful termination of a human life in order to be successful.

Of course, last week's vote didn't go through without drawing some pro-life pushback.

Minnesota state Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka (R) criticized the decision on Twitter, calling it "bizarre."

"I believe we should protect human life from conception to natural death," Gazelka wrote. "But why would the St.Paul city council choose to 'celebrate' abortion? Some may think it's a necessary evil, but to celebrate abortion is bizarre."

Testifying at the House Armed Services Committee, CENTCOM Chief Gen. Frank McKenzie praised the Taliban as having conducted a “very effective” anti-ISIS military operation in Nangarhar Province.

McKenzie revealed this campaign was carried out over the last several months, saying the Taliban paid a very steep price in their own fighters, and that the US military had been providing limited support.

While the Afghan peace deal called on the Taliban to conduct anti-ISIS operations, this reveals they’d already been doing so for months before the deal’s signing. Moreover, the US has been supporting Taliban operations on the ground without telling anyone until now.

Though ISIS has been reported to have been defeated in Nangarhar several times only to return as strong as ever, the Taliban has shown itself unusually effective at fighting ISIS head on, whereas the Afghan military tends to just shell areas and assume the militants were wiped out.
