I agree with you on that. A lot of them are extremely serious about their beliefs. The problem is that the headship of Christ has been usurped centuries ago by an organisation that teaches utterly unbiblical doctrine. Those God-fearing, devout people are being led downstairs while thinking they're doing God's will. e.g. The pope is infallible? I don't think you'll find that kind of statement about any mere man in the Bible.
