That's what I was told by somebody who is a survivor of ritual child abuse. But that person admitted they weren't overly religious after that experience and that they weren't super-knowledgeable. However, it set me on a GOOD foundation to dig deeper, which I did.
The trouble is, whether Hivite, Hittite, Amorite, etc. etc. - even learned scholars disagree because so much knowledge from the Canaanites is lacking (so it gets really ambiguous). I use the term Canaanite for ease of understanding - and they all did share many of the same pagan deities, under slightly varying names. Interestingly enough, these deities also find there way into the greek and roman pantheon. But it's roots are in Canaan.
Solomon turned away from God in his latter years and took wives that were idolators who practiced Moloch (later Baal)/Ashtoreth - and it basically caused TEN of the 12 Israelite tribes to turn away from God, and subsequently get conquered by the Babylonians and Assyrians (leaving only two remaining tribes - the House of David among those two), The ten that were conquered were taken into captivity in Babylon and were no longer in the promised land. The Babylonian king instead filled those empty cities with Babylonians. These Ten tribes and the land in question is RIGHT where we find their predecessors, the Canaanites - and all their occult Molech/Ishtar/sex-magick/ritual child sacrifice practices. They eventually MORPHED into a mix of Israelite tradition and retained their old deities - the land became known as Samaria (hence the story of the GOOD Samaritan, etc.)
The parallels with this occult stuff MIRRORS that in the elite today - as it did in Rome and Greece. And when the Bible talks about Rome and Greece, it's almost whispering to us that these types of practices are exactly why God and God's word are so disparaging toward those so-called "great" civilizations. Interesting (to me at least) is that many say the book of Revelation need to be viewed as not a book of prophesy but in the context of its time - an outcry against Rome. Of course, the nature of the imagery in that book refutes this idea - because there are things in it that still have yet to pass. HOWEVER, the Moloch/Baal & Ashteroth/Ishtar worship persisted - and apparently, we are all just find out now - STILL persists today. It just went underground because it would have been stamped out of existence by a rightfully vengeful humanity.
