The first US case of the coronavirus was reported in January – a Washington state man who had recently returned from China. A little more than a month later, the country has reported more than 1,270.
At least 38 people have died: 30 in Washington state, four in California, two in Florida, one in New Jersey and one in South Dakota.
Congress complaining about costs? How quickly they forget that Congress did not pass appropriations for Health and Human Services which includes the CDC until Dec 20, 2019. And the CDC items for infectious diseases and research were slightly less that appropriated for FY 2019. CDC could have done more research and planning for the virus had the budgeted funds been in place 3 months earlier (Congress's responsibility).
