Wars are won by people who make deals

Maybe nobody walks away, but many people will be getting a lesser punishment than they would have in different circumstances.

There is no point in prosecuting a blackmail victim if the judge and jury are likely to give him a reduced sentence because of the blackmail.

It is far better for the person to be charged with one slam-dunk charge, leading to a short trial and a clear conviction and sentence.

And forget the rest of it.

After almost a century of endless war, this is the right way to move on.
