Israel uses antiterrorism technology against virus
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that his country will use counterterrorism technology to track coronavirus carriers. Netanyahu told the news conference on Saturday night that the government gave police permission to intercept location data from mobile phones. He talked of the need to enhance monitoring of people who test positive for the virus, or those instructed to self-isolate. He added the purpose of the monitoring to see if they are strictly following the rules, staying home and avoiding contact with others. Netanyahu also announced that restaurants, shopping malls and cinemas will be closed beginning Sunday, and asked businesses to allow employees to work from home as much as possible. Israel has banned entry of almost all visitors from all countries as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
