Now we know that the far-left Media Matters was leading the attacks on Trish Regan.

Nike Says It Will Close Its Stores Around the World Amid the Coronavirus Pandemic

The development comes as the number of COVID-19 cases has risen to more than 150,000 around the world. Europe has become the epicentre of the pandemic, with most of the cases now being reported there rather than in China, where the virus originated.

The sports giant Nike has announced that it will close all its retail stores across the globe, including in the United States, starting from next week amid the coronavirus pandemic. Nike said that the measure is needed to stop the spread of the disease.

"The well-being of our teammates and consumers is our top priority so we have decided to close our stores in multiple countries around the world including in the United States. We are taking additional steps in other Nike-managed facilities, including the option to work from home, staggered work schedules, social distancing and additional safety and cleaning steps to help protect and support our teammates", the company explained in a memo.

Romanian lawmakers reinstate PM Orban amid coronavirus fears

Romanian lawmakers have asked quarantined Prime Minister Ludovic Orban to form a government as the coronavirus spreads throughout the country. The PM had lost a vote of confidence last month.

Romania's centrist prime minister Ludovic Orban won a parliamentary vote of confidence with near-unanimous support on Saturday, ending weeks of political stalemate as lawmakers scramble to address the growing COVID-19 crisis.

"It's been 286 votes for the government out of 309 cast ballots and 23 MPs voted against it," a senior ruling party deputy told reporters.

The vote restores Orban's full powers to govern as the deadly infection spreads throughout the EU country. The number of coronavirus cases in Romania rose to 102 on Saturday, though no fatalities have been reported there.

The U.S. trade deficit for goods and services narrowed to $45.3 billion in January, down another $3.3 billion from a downwardly revised $48.6 billion in December. The first trade balance report for 2020 beat the forecast after 2019 posted the first annual decline since 2013.

Forecasts ranged from a low of $-53.6 billion to a high of $-45.5 billion. The consensus forecast was $-46.1 billion.

Putin formally signs off on constitutional changes that allow him to extend power

Russia’s Constitutional Court convened for an urgent session on March 14 to launch a review of constitutional amendments that, among other changes, would allow Vladimir Putin to run again for president in 2024.

The court session follows the 67-year-old Putin’s signing of the package of amendments earlier in the day and is expected to yield a decision within a week.

News of the signing, via a state website, came a day after it was reported that all of Russia’s regional parliaments had voted in favor of the measures.

The constitutional changes are due to be put to a nationwide vote in April.

In January, Putin announced a major shake-up of Russian politics and a constitutional overhaul, which the Kremlin described as a redistribution of power from the presidency to parliament.

Large US military convoy enters Syria from neighboring Iraq

BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) – A large U.S. military convoy has entered Syria from neighboring Iraq this week, the state-owned Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Sunday.

Citing local sources, SANA reported that a U.S. military convoy, consisting of 62 trucks loaded with military and logistical supplies and accompanied by 11 military vehicles, entered the Al-Hasakah Governorate from the Al-Walid crossing.

The U.S. convoy was said to have made its way to a military base in the Al-Hasakah Governorate, as they they look to strengthen their presence in Syria.

US arrests 600 Mexican cartel members in one of the largest ever raids

More than 600 Mexican cartel members were arrested during an interagency operation by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), making it one of the largest arrest operations in history.

The agencies announced the results of the plan, called Project Python, at a press briefing on Wednesday, saying the DEA-led operation spent the last six months monitoring the activities of those they arrested, The Hill reported. In total, there were 600 Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) arrests and 350 indictments, as well as a significant seizure of money and drugs in the nationwide raid on Wednesday, the agencies said. According to one report, the agencies seized 15,000 kilos of meth and nearly $20 million.

“Project Python marks the most comprehensive action to date in the Department of Justice’s campaign to disrupt, dismantle, and ultimately destroy CJNG,” Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski said in a statement.

“CJNG is one of the fastest-growing, transnational criminal organizations in Mexico, and among the most prolific methamphetamine producers in the world,” DEA leaders said in the written statement.

Executive order in Champaign could include banning sale of firearms, ammunition and alcohol

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Champaign Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen has issued an executive order declaring an emergency in the city.

City officials said the emergency is related to the COVID-19, which is anticipated to cause an impact on the health of community members. Champaign Municipal Code allows the mayor to declare an emergency for a limited time.

Included in the executive order are ordinances that would give the city extraordinary powers to the Mayor.

French court officially recognizes Bitcoin as money

The Nanterre commercial court in France has ruled that Bitcoin (BTC) is recognized as a currency – a development that could have a significant impact on the cryptocurrency market in France. Recently, financial regulators in Germany have classified cryptos as financial instruments, which further promotes the increasing legalization of digital currencies.

The judge stated that Bitcoin is an “interchangeable, intangible good”. Therefore, the cryptocurrency would be similar to other currencies like the euro.

According to lawyer Hubert de Vauplane from Kramer & Levin, this decision means that Bitcoin is legalized as money. In his view, the number of Bitcoin transactions from France could now increase significantly. In addition, Bitcoin can be linked to investment and savings products. For example, loans could be provided with Bitcoin as security.

Litigation between crypto exchange and British investors

The judgment came about due to a legal dispute between the French crypto exchange Paymium and the British investor BitSpread.
