The World has Gone Mad Thanks to the Mainstream Media’s Hyperbolic Reporting of the Coronavirus

The coronavirus scare is now worldwide and like previous liberal scare tactics the reporting is becoming a bit of a joke.

The virus started in Wuhan, China but some people think it is wrong to call it the Wuhan coronavirus.

But diseases have been named after their location of origin for centuries.

Italy authorities just announced that the death number dropped by 30% from what was yesterday which is a good news, mainstream media chose instead to publish the overall total death number in headlines

Yesterday they were showing the daily death number comparing it with the previous day and focusing on the increase and making predictions of the future daily death number.

Based on the trend it should had been 300+ deaths today yet the deaths are 175.

I think they are accelerating the end of this event to try getting everything back to normal in Italy by the start of the summer.

Not so good news for other countries in EU where it appears they are trying the same tactic of closing everything, killing all the markets, keep people inside, steal everything they can steal.

They still do this one at the time, I don’t think they have enough people to control the outbreak narrative on the entire EU simultaneously.

Now is Spain turn.

We will see this in Germany and France? That is the big question.

While the sheep fight over toilet paper and hand sanitizer, the tax payers hand over 1.5 trillion to wall street.

Instead of putting trillions into the flondering stock market, the U.S could have used that money to exterminate the u.s student loan debt crisis and kick start the entire generations economic success. Our generation would be able to buy homes, cars, invest etc much more fluently and the potential for this investment is astronomical. But no… Instead we bail out Wall Street again. Which btw had no effect on the markets decline.

Fed to Inject $1.5 Trillion in Bid to Prevent ‘Unusual Disruptions’ in Markets

The Federal Reserve said it would make vast sums of short-term loans available on Wall Street and purchase Treasury securities in a coronavirus-related response aimed at preventing ominous trading conditions from creating a sharper economic contraction.

The Fed’s promise to intervene substantially in short-term money markets, together with a move that opens the door to a resumption of bond-buying stimulus known as quantitative easing, followed two days of trading in which market functioning appeared to have degraded.

Washington & the Fed are all out of ideas about how to stop Crash2. They will blame the Wuhan virus, but the facts show they’ll be lying

All the signs you need to see are there this afternoon and early evening in the markets. The dead-cat bounce I predicted Tuesday has ended, and more value has been sliced off the Dow: a fall of 1,600 pts (6.4%) has been the sentiment reaction to another Fed rate cut and a pathetic stimulus con-trick from the White House. (New UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak unveiled a $38 billion coronavirus action package in today’s budget…. nearly five times that floated by Trump for an economy only 14% of that in the US).

Stocks plunged around the world, oil tumbled and demand for safe havens spiked higher after the World Health Organisation officially declared the COVID19 virus a pandemic, and the Trump administration remained unable to detail any further stimulus measures.

Central Banks and their satellites have reverted to the familiar self-defence of selling gold to each other in phased waves – the better to mark the price down to $1635 today. But it’s all to no avail: the mood has changed out there, and the undercurrent is to sell stocks. At some point over the next ten days, that will turn into a stampede; and as I never tire of saying, there is no such thing as a gradual panic.

The situation will be exacerbated by the fact that algorithmic programs won’t know how to react. “Uncertainty is going to continue to create a lot of volatility,” said David Spika, the president of GuideStone Capital Management. “We have no idea how to model it, we have no idea what to expect from it.” None of this is rocket science: I fully expect that, by the third week in March, investors will be piling into every safe haven they can find.

There aren’t many on offer – if you cut rates, it only acts as a further stimulus to off-risk; European equities wiped out a 2.3% advance sparked by an emergency rate cut in the UK. If you can’t come up with a QE3 on steroids, the gloom gets exponentially darker. The symptoms of full-on crisis are now undeniable: Boeing shares fell 13% after revealing plans to draw down all of a $13.8 billion loan, Goldman Sachs slashed all its forecasts, and openly said the bull market is ending, Oil futures tumbled again today as the US Energy Information Administration said commercial crude oil inventories increased by 7.7 million barrels in the week ending March 6, and Brent crude fell 2.7% to $36.20 a barrel.

Homeless being rounded up and taken to camps amid coronavirus outbreak

Snatch and grabs of American citizens have been authorized at the highest levels and are now being conducted as the U.S. Constitution remains in suspension under current national level coronavirus state of emergency declaration

King County officials announced on Saturday a plan to take homeless to the old arrivals section at Boeing Field against everything America stands for.

Under the current national state of emergency declaration snatch and grabs of American citizens have been authorized at the highest levels in an effort to mitigate the spread of the deadly Covid-19 Contagion.

Authorities have been ordered to use force if necessary to carry out quarantine orders.

From the Seattle Times:

The two quarantine or isolation properties are the Eastgate parking lot in Bellevue and a motel in Issaquah the county just leased.

City and county officials have scrambled to open up new space to create social distancing in crowded shelters, which house a vulnerable population at risk of contracting severe COVID-19 illnesses. Officials anticipate “hundreds or thousands” of people needing to use quarantine facilities in the coming weeks who cannot isolate at home or do not have homes of their own, according to King County Leo Flor, director of the county’s Department of Community and Human Services.

Keep in mind, homeless are not the only humans authorized to be detained. If you think you are immune to the order that you may have another thing coming.

Under the current national state of emergency, anyone in violation of a quarantine order will receive a $250,000 fine and mandatory imprisonment. So you may want to think twice about leaving your home during the zombie apocalypse once the U.S. military begins to enforce it.

And if that is not bad enough, being taken to a camp with the infected would surely mean a horrible death. Remember, officials have been lying about the kill rate which seems to be about 16% in Washington State.

Meanwhile, in Austin, Texas local authorities have openly admitted that the violation of a quarantine order equals jail time.

On a local level: “State law allows local health authorities to issue the orders — which include criminal charges and fines. The Texas Health and Safety Code shows a violation of an order is punishable by up to six months in jail and a $2,000 fine. The crime is a Class B misdemeanor.,” according to a report posted on KXAN.com.

The National Guard is currently positioning throughout Washington State ahead of quarantine lockdown. The following convoy was deployed out of Fort Lewis.

Saudi detains 300 officials in ‘corruption probe’

March 16, 2020 at 3:34 pm

Saudi authorities have detained 298 government employees, including military officers, and will indict them on crimes, according to anti-corruption body Nazaha.

According to an announcement published yesterday, the investigators will bring charges against those currently held in custody.

Nazaha tweeted that it had arrested and would indict 298 people on crimes such as bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power involving a total of 379 million riyals ($101 million).

Last week, two senior princes, Prince Ahmed Bin Abdulaziz, King Salman’s brother, and Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef, the former crown prince and interior minister, were detained in a corruption probe.

Both were considered potential rivals to Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and their arrests were seen as an effort to send a message to other members of the royal family that any signal of disloyalty towards Bin Salman would not be tolerated.

Iraq to Complain to UN Security Council Over US Aggression

US attacks are a violation of Iraqi sovereignty

After multiple US airstrikes in Iraq over the course of the past week, Iraq’s Foreign Ministry says they will submit a formal complaint to the UN Security Council about ongoing US aggression, and violation of Iraqi sovereignty.

Blaming Iraqi Shi’ite militias for rockets fired at US troops, the US attacked at least five bases, The US presents the attacks as retaliation against “Iran-backed” militias, but in practice these militias are part of Iraq’s security forces.

Attacking Iraqi security forces on Iraqi soil is problematic, even if the US sees it as justified. Iraqi officials are warning that the strikes are further destabilizing the situation, and Iraq can’t exactly afford that after months of anti-government protests.

This is not the first Iraqi compliant over US aggression. Iraq’s Foreign Ministry submitted a similar complaint to the UN in January over the US assassination of Gen. Qassem Soleimani and several Iraqi officials. Iraq similarly presented this as a sovereignty violation.

The problem for Iraq is that this won’t have any practical effect. The US position as a permanent member of the UN Security Council ensures a veto of any resolution criticizing their attacks on Iraq, so even if one was under consideration, which is unlikely, it wouldn’t go anywhere.

Hillary Makes ‘Desperate’ Appeal To Avoid Testifying About Emails

Hillary Clinton asked an appeals court on Friday to overturn a judge’s order that she appear for a sworn deposition about her handling of classified emails and the 2012 Benghazi attack as secretary of state.

A federal judge Monday granted a request from conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch to have Clinton sit for a sworn deposition to answer questions about her use of a private email server to conduct government business.

The Clinton legal team responded to Lamberth’s ruling by filing an 83-page petition with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, where they asked the court to undo the order, which they suggested was out of line.

According to Clinton’s team, a reversal of the lower court’s ruling “is warranted because Judicial Watch’s impending depositions of Secretary Clinton and Ms. Mills are inappropriate, unnecessary, and a clear abuse of discretion.”

The lawyers said Lamberth has overstepped given Clinton’s Cabinet-level position at the time of the alleged abuses.

“The district court’s order violates the well-established principle that high-ranking government officials should not be subjected to depositions absent extraordinary circumstances,” they said in the petition.

Her lawyers argued that a 2018 D.C. circuit court ruling in Judicial Watch v. Pompeo should make this case “moot” and that Lamberth’s court “lacked jurisdiction to order additional discovery because the FOIA requests were submitted only after Secretary Clinton left office.”

Clinton’s team also argued that she’s pretty much too important and had other things going on that may conflict with her testifying, which is just as pathetic of an excuse as it sounds.

Lamberth said there were still more questions that needed to be answered.

“As extensive as the existing record is, it does not sufficiently explain Secretary Clinton’s state of mind when she decided it would be an acceptable practice to set up and use a private server to conduct State Department business,” Lamberth said

First dose of potential coronavirus vaccine to be delivered for trial monday: Official

The first participant in a clinical trial for a vaccine to protect against the new coronavirus will receive an experimental dose on Monday, according to a government official.

The National Institutes of Health is funding the trial, which is taking place at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute in Seattle. The official who disclosed plans for the first participant spoke on condition of anonymity because the move has not been publicly announced.

Public health officials say it will take a year to 18 months to fully validate any potential vaccine.

Testing will begin with 45 young, healthy volunteers with different doses of shots co-developed by NIH and Moderna Inc. There’s no chance participants could get infected from the shots, because they don’t contain the virus itself.

The goal is purely to check that the vaccines show no worrisome side effects, setting the stage for larger tests

COVID-19 pandemic creates panic and “cancel-everything” culture

There’s certainly reason for concern, but not for panic. Put down the toilet paper!

Panic is counterproductive, it oftentimes results in short-sighted selfish decisions that could potentially cause harm. Panic causes people to buy and hoard all of the toilet paper, leaving nothing for others. Panic births chaos, chaos creates stress, stress interferes with our body’s defense systems and immunity, therefore panic puts us at a higher risk of becoming susceptible to the very concern we are panicking about.

Leaders have a responsibility to assure the public that they are engaged in decisive measures to fix the problem, merely saying things will be okay is never helpful.

Unsurprisingly, American’s are divided when it comes to their support or lack thereof of the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus. Some argue that the response is simply too little too late, and if officials didn’t downplay COVID-19 early on and took matters more seriously it wouldn’t have spread to 49 states (allegedly West Virginia doesn’t have any cases).

Some Americans believe that interstate travel needs to be halted immediately and that everyone should be quarantined in their homes.

On the other hand, you have Americans that feel our government and their fellow American’s are over-reacting, this group questions whether there’s actually a pandemic, or could this all be a hoax or maybe a distraction from something bigger, they have many different theories about the origin of coronavirus and its supposed intent. Some leaders think it was crafted by the US, who then unleashed it specifically on China, Iran, and Italy.

Then there are those who don’t care about the what, why, where, and how and just want normalcy to return.

Another group fully (read that as blindly) supports anything President Trump’s administration says and would follow them off a cliff.

On Friday, President Donald Trump declared a National Emergency freeing up 50 billion in federal aid including additional resources and funding for officials on the federal, state, and local levels trying to combat the coronavirus.

Trump also announced a travel ban from Europe, (the coronavirus world epicenter) US citizens could still return but would need to self quarantine for 14 days. The ban has since added on the U.K. and Ireland.

EU officials were not happy with Washington’s unilateral decision and stated that the pandemic is a global concern and should be dealt with as such.

Tasked by president, Gantz says he’s aiming for ‘patriotic government’ in days

In shot at Netanyahu, Blue and White chairman says he wants a unity coalition but not at expense of democratic values; vows to work for all, including settlers and Arab Israelis

Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz vowed on Monday to cobble together a coalition “within days” after President Reuven Rivlin tasked the centrist alliance leader with forming a government in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

“I give you my word: I will do everything to establish within days — as few as I can — a national government, one that is as patriotic and as broad as possible,” Gantz said in an address from the President’s Residence in Jerusalem.

He specified that the government he would form would “protect the interests of the residents of Judea and Samaria [West Bank] and the Arab citizens of Israel, of the residents of the periphery and those in the center.”

“A government that I’ll lead will help Israeli society recover from the coronavirus, as well as the virus of schism and hatred,” he continued.

Hospitals Cancel Elective Surgeries to Prepare for Surge of Coronavirus Patients

To prepare for a potential influx of coronavirus patients, hospitals across the United States are moving to cancel some surgeries and non-urgent care, as the global pandemic spreads nationwide.

The U.S. death toll from the outbreak rose to 65 over the weekend, prompting fears U.S. hospitals will soon be overrun similar to medical centers in Italy, which recorded 368 more deaths from the coronavirus outbreak on Sunday, its biggest one day rise.

As badly impacted countries visibly struggle to cope with the outbreak, U.S. hospitals are making adjustments in preparation for a possible surge of COVID-19 patients. The Wuhan coronavirus, which emerged from China late last year, causes the disease called COVID-19.

Jennifer Rubin on MSNBC: More Republicans Than Democrats Will Die of COVID-19 Because Fox News Isn't Scaring the Hell of Them

Repeat after me: They're better than you. They're smarter than you. And you will die if you don't listen to them.

That's right, now your very life may depend on whether you listen to Joy Reid of MSNBC and Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin.

They weep. They lament. That they can't get through to you. Don't you know that Trump hasn't handled the coronavirus well? Sure, he stopped travel from China immediately. Sure, he stopped travel to and from Europe. Sure, he immediately declared a National Health Emergency on January 31, followed by the Declaration of a National Emergency six weeks later after the virus had moved quickly. But, but, but … TEST KITS! FIRING NSC PANDEMIC EXPERTS! DOESN'T BELIEVE IN SCIENCE!

Were the White House National Security Council experts the only people in the entire U.S. government working on pandemics? Did they call for new CDC testing protocols or did the NSC experts leave that up to the CDC?

We digress. Back to Jennifer Rubin, who agreed with Reid that Republicans are too stupid about the coronavirus facts because, she claims, Fox News and other right-wing news outlets aren't doing a good enough job of scaring the hell out of people.

MSNBC host Joy Reid introduced Rubin by saying, "We now have a situation, Jennifer, where Trump's own people are now actually in greater danger, but those of us who live in this earth can't even reach them. They're not listening to anything that any of us say, including someone like you, who is a former Republican. You can't reach them."

And Real Clear Politics transcribed Rubin's attempt to "reach them":

"There is a particular cruelty/irony that it is their core viewers, the Republican older viewers, who are the most at risk.

And when you think about it, which party immediately canceled all of their rallies? Which party immediately started having their political figures really portray and use their lies as an example? It was the Democrats.

So, I hate to put it this way, but there will be less Democrat deaths because there will be less mass gatherings, there will be less opportunities for people to congregate and share this horrible disease. So it is really a very short-sighted strategy.

But, I think now the name of the game is how do they get back on Planet Earth. And part of the way that I think that they are doing it is down the memory hole. He jumped right on this right away because of all this planning that we’re doing so well, which is head-spinning for the rest of us who watched him for weeks say this was a hoax. But this is how they do it at Fox News. Suddenly, he's been the most pro-active president… The toughest on it." [emphasis added]

As you know, President Trump didn't call the coronavirus a hoax. Why would a president who thought the virus from Wuhan, China, was a hoax cut off travel from China? Of course, he said the Democrats were politicizing the issue, as they did the Russia hoax and much like Rubin is doing here.

US Chamber Of Commerce Urges Congress To Suspend Payroll Taxes, Take Other Actions To Combat Coronavirus

Chamber suggests suspending payroll taxes for three months, making Small Business Administration disaster loans available and developing credit facilities for big businesses

The Senate takes up House passed coronavirus aid package Monday

At least 4,000 Americans have been infected by coronavirus with about five dozen deaths

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Monday advised President Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to suspend payroll taxes, streamline loan programs for small businesses and create credit facilities for big businesses to ease the economic effects of the coronavirus.

The suggestion came as Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, suggested giving $1,000 to every American adult, and former Democratic presidential hopeful Andrew Yang, who advocates for universal basic income, urged the government to get its act together and put money into people’s hands.

In a letter to Trump, Pelosi and McConnell, the chamber CEO Tom Donohue urged cancellation of payroll taxes paid by both employers and employees for March, April and May to “reduce the cost for employers for continuing to pay employees regardless of whether they are working or on sick leave.”

He also suggested using the Small Business Administration’s disaster loan program to help employers with fewer than 501 employees immediately and recommended the government work with banks to free up cash for large employers.

“Taken together, these three steps, in addition to the other actions outlined in the appendix to this letter, will ensure that businesses of all sizes and across all sectors have increased liquidity and access to necessary financing to help them weather the temporary loss in revenue caused by the coronavirus,” Donohue wrote, adding that the chamber views the impact of the virus as temporary and predicts investment that currently is being deferred will take place once the pandemic subsides.

“It is critical at this moment that the federal government assists individuals, families and businesses as they traverse this period of lost income,” Donohue wrote. He said no family or business should be forced into bankruptcy because of the virus, which has infected at least 4,000 Americans, resulting in about five dozen deaths.

The House on Friday overwhelmingly approved a measure that provides for paid sick leave, bolsters unemployment insurance and enables free testing for the virus. The Senate was to take up the bill Monday as negotiations for more comprehensive action continue. A second House-passed bill is getting a cooler reception, with senators worrying it doesn’t go far enough.

"Half Of America Will Get Sick": Here Is What Goldman Told 1,500 Clients In Its Emergency Sunday Conference Call

Around the time the Fed stunned markets with its 5pm Sunday emergency bazooka intervention, Goldman was holding an emergency conference call in which some 1,500 clients and companies dialed-in, making the comparisons to "Lehman Sunday" especially apropos

50% of Americans will contract the virus (150m people) as it's very communicable. This is on a par with the common cold (Rhinovirus) of which there are about 200 strains and which the majority of Americans will get 2-4 per year.

70% of Germany will contract it (58M people). This is the next most relevant industrial economy to be effected.

Peak-virus is expected over the next eight weeks, declining thereafter.

The virus appears to be concentrated in a band between 30-50 degrees north latitude, meaning that like the common cold and flu, it prefers cold weather. The coming summer in the northern hemisphere should help. This is to say that the virus is likely seasonal.

Of those impacted 80% will be early-stage, 15% mid-stage and 5% critical-stage. Early-stage symptoms are like the common cold and mid-stage symptoms are like the flu; these are stay at home for two weeks and rest. 5% will be critical and highly weighted towards the elderly.

Mortality rate on average of up to 2%, heavily weight towards the elderly and immunocompromised; meaning up to 3m people (150m*.02). In the US about 3m/yr die mostly due to old age and disease, those two being highly correlated (as a percent very few from accidents). There will be significant overlap, so this does not mean 3m new deaths from the virus, it means elderly people dying sooner due to respiratory issues. This may however stress the healthcare system.

There is a debate as to how to address the virus pre-vaccine. The US is tending towards quarantine. The UK is tending towards allowing it to spread so that the population can develop a natural immunity. Quarantine is likely to be ineffective and result in significant economic damage but will slow the rate of transmission giving the healthcare system more time to deal with the case load.

China’s economy has been largely impacted which has affected raw materials and the global supply chain. It may take up to six months for it to recover.

Global GDP growth rate will be the lowest in 30 years at around 2%.

S&P 500 will see a negative growth rate of -15% to -20% for 2020 overall.

There will be economic damage from the virus itself, but the real damage is driven mostly by market psychology. Viruses have been with us forever. Stock markets should fully recover in the 2nd half of the year.

In the past week there has been a conflating of the impact of the virus with the developing oil price war between KSA and Russia. While reduced energy prices are generally good for industrial economies, the US is now a large energy exporter, so there has been a negative impact on the valuation of the domestic energy sector. This will continue for some time as the Russians are attempting to economically squeeze the American shale producers and the Saudi’s are caught in the middle and do not want to further cede market share to Russia or the US.

Technically the market generally has been looking for a reason to reset after the longest bull market in history.

There is NO systemic risk. No one is even talking about that. Governments are intervening in the markets to stabilize them, and the private banking sector is very well capitalized. It feels more like ‪9/11 than it does like 2008.

Denmark Passes Law Enabling Forced Coronavirus Vaccinations

Denmark has passed an emergency law that allows for the government to force people to take a vaccine for coronavirus.

The emergency law gives authorities sweeping powers to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic and will remain in force until March 2021.

Citizens who refuse to be tested for the coronavirus will face fines and potential prison time, and will be prevented from entering shops, grocery stores, public institutions and hospitals while also being restricted from using public transport.

“As well as enforcing quarantine measures, the law also allows the authorities to force people to be vaccinated, even though there is currently no vaccination for the virus,” reports the Local.

Copenhagen University law professor Jens Elo Rytter said the new measures were “certainly the most extreme since the Second World War.”

The initial draft of the law was even more draconian, and would have allowed police to enter private homes without a warrant if there was a suspicion of a coronavirus infection.

However, this measure was dropped after opposition from other parties in the Parliament.

Denmark currently has 875 recorded coronavirus cases and has registered 2 deaths.

IMF Prepares $1 Trillion Bazooka

The IMF has just fired off a trillion-dollar "bazooka" of its own Monday morning.

In a blog post published minutes ago, IMF Director Kristalina Georgieva issued three "policy prescriptions" that she said should define a "coordinated response" from the developed economies in Europe and the US. In addition to declaring that the IMF has $1 trillion in loan capacity ready to put to work to salve the economic damage caused by the outbreak, Georgieva encouraged governments to spend more, and asked the Fed to consider bulking up its dollar FX swap lines to emerging-market central banks. She also noted that the $42 billion that investors have pulled from EM markets is one of the biggest outflows in history, and will certainly ratchet up financial stressors.

Today, the IMF published a set of policy recommendations that can help guide countries in the difficult days ahead.

What more needs to be done?

Three action areas for the global economy:

First, fiscal.

Additional fiscal stimulus will be necessary to prevent long-lasting economic damage.

Fiscal measures already announced are being deployed on a range of policies that immediately prioritize health spending and those in need. We know that comprehensive containment measures—combined with early monitoring—will slow the rate of infection and the spread of the virus.

Governments should continue and expand these efforts to reach the most-affected people and businesses—with policies including increased paid sick leave and targeted tax relief.

Beyond these positive individual country actions, as the virus spreads, the case for a coordinated and synchronized global fiscal stimulus is becoming stronger by the hour.

During the Global Financial Crisis (GFC), for example, fiscal stimulus by the G20 amounted to about 2 percent of GDP, or over $900 billion in today’s money, in 2009 alone. So, there is a lot more work to do.

Second, monetary policy.

In advanced economies, central banks should continue to support demand and boost confidence by easing financial conditions and ensuring the flow of credit to the real economy. For example, the U.S. Federal Reserve just announced further interest rate cuts, asset purchases, forward guidance and a drop in reserve requirements.

Policy steps that we know have worked before—including during the GFC—are on the table. Yesterday, major central banks took decisive coordinated action on monetary easing and opening of swap lines to lessen global financial market stresses.

Going forward, there may be a need for swap lines to emerging market economies.

As the Institute for International Finance said last week, investors have removed nearly $42 billion from emerging markets since the beginning of the crisis. This is the largest outflow they have ever recorded.

So central banks’ policy action in emerging-market and developing economies will need to balance the especially difficult challenge of addressing capital flow reversals and commodity shocks. In times of crisis such as at present, foreign exchange interventions and capital flow management measures can usefully complement interest rate and other monetary policy actions.
