Ohio jail to release hundreds of inmates amid coronavirus concerns: reports

An Ohio county jail is evaluating the release of hundreds of inmates amid concerns about the spread of the coronavirus within the facility.

Judges in Cuyahoga County, where Cleveland is located, held special hearings Saturday morning to settle pending cases with plea deals, release inmates into the public, place them on house arrest or send them back to prison, Fox 8 Cleveland reported.

“It’s not a matter of if this virus hits us, it’s a matter of when," administrative judge Brendan Sheehan told Cleveland’s WOIO. "If it hits us and the jail, it will cripple our criminal justice system.”

“The goal of this is to protect the community and the safety of the inmates,” the judge also told Fox 8. “If someone’s a serious violent person, well, we’re using our discretion to make sure the community’s safe also."

About 1,900 inmates were held at Cuyahoga County Justice Center last week.

Metro Health, together with jail medical director Julia Bruner, compiled a list of 325 of those inmates deemed most at risk of serious illness should they become infected with COVID-19, Cleveland.com reported.

The list included older inmates and those with chronic illness and a history of respiratory issues, which are factors identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that make someone more vulnerable to serious complications and death from the coronavirus.

Between 200 and 300 inmates, all low-level offenders, according to WOIO, were expected to be released as a result of those hearings Saturday. The hearings aimed to transfer cases for vulnerable inmates over to the state Department of Corrections, allowing more space to separate those still held at the jail and reduce the risk of transmitting the virus.

“The Court is collaborating with the County Sheriff’s Office, the County Prosecutor’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, and MetroHealth Medical Center to address the potential for COVID-19 in the jail. Details of those plans are in discussion at this time. The goal is to reduce the risk of COVID-19 in the jail, while still meeting the safety needs of the community,” Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas said in an earlier statement, according to WOIO.

Officials worked to reduce the jail population as a preventative measure after at least 11 cases of the coronavirus were recorded in Cuyahoga County last week. Ohio on recorded 37 confirmed cases of the coronavirus Sunday, up from 26 in the state Saturday.

“If this virus hits, we’d have to release people on an emergency basis,” Sheehan said, explaining why the county acted in advance to release some inmates. “That could be even worse.”

Ohio was mentioned in HRC most recent

tweet.

She also mentioned Illinois, New York.

Thank you to the governors of Ohio, Illinois, New York, and other states who have shown leadership in closing schools, limiting public gatherings, and shutting down bars and restaurants to limit the spread of coronavirus. It's a tough call to make but the right thing to do.

Are those same to be released inmates going to be doing something for these Governors since MS13 goons are dwindled?

Keep an eye on the three HRC tweets states, see if the other two follow suit and release inmates.

Fuckery afoot and brewing?

Ohio (R) Never Trumper John Kasich

Illinois (D) Jay Robert "J. B." Pritzker

New York. (D) Andrew Cuomo

The reason this is coming to my mind

is all the previous FF shit

involving all the places she mentioned

that are not full of people.

What might she and the Governors be COMMS talking here if at all?

She mentions all places in past they used to change narratives in MSM with mass shootings:

schools,

ublic gatherings

bars

restaurants

and now that is less likely to happen since they are panicing at about plan Z.

Is she thanking them for their leadership ahead of something to come especially with Ohio releasing hundreds of inmates?

Keep an eye on?

Two questions:

What is the status of

"I had a Chinese Spy for my driver for 20 years"

SF Senator Dianne Feinstein?

And

'What is going on with all the homeless there in SF'?

Are all homeless going to be forcefully rounded up since they tend to congregate together and no water and soap or sanitizing the camps? Perfect time to do so.

Seems like this is the next announcement that should come due to everyone being told to not congregate in groups.

I am not seeing anything news wise except aarticles saying we should help them now more than ever. No rumblings about the shitholes and the muhcorona spread?

Seems like this is an opportune time for POTUS to clean up all the homeless filfth and mental ilness off the streets nationwide, right, especially California?

Which all Cali voters would applaud, right.

Seems like this topic should be front and center now?

You cannot just let all these people congregate and many be in positons that look like they may be sick. Sick of what will have to be asked since every other American is being told to not be outside in groups and if sick not be around others. There would be no way to just assume it is regular illness, right.

For the record, I am not a believer in the muhcorona, I am just saying POTUS could really clean up, pun intended with this street cleanup coutrywide, most communities will applaud the new street situation if all that was removed and they all got the care they need same event.

Perfect scenario for POTUS to not look like he is cruel and task it to the state state(s) government, and if they refuse take away emergency funding…….brilliant if POTUS does this soon==
