Flint, Michigan anon here. We need help more than ever. The new Governor is a disaster. She's wrecking everything. Detroit and Flint have both had exclusively Democrat mayors since the 1950s. Clinton signed NAFTA forcing GM and other manufacturers to move out of the state. Flint went from 30,000 factory jobs to 3,000. All of that tax base is gone but the city remained the same size - service wise. The water, the police, the fire dept, were all disasters. Then they somehow managed to blame the Flint Water Crisis on the Republican Mayor (who I was no fan of) and earned themselves a super shitty liberal democrat Governor.
Negative, Michigan is a great place. In this country we fix things, we don't bail.

Flint, Saginaw, and Detroit have had exclusively Democrat mayors since the 1950s. Bill Clinton signed NAFTA into law which was the final straw forcing most manufacturers out of the country. GM went from 30,000 workers to 3,000. The city's tax base shriveled to 10% but the city still had to run fire, police, water, etc for the huge geography. The local Democrat politicians didn't fix them problem, they just kept spending and spending. Finally the city's in receivership for the 3rd time and the water crisis happens.
Never let a Democrat tell you Snyder caused the Flint Water Crisis. He wasn't a great Governor, kind of a faggot tbh, but he didn't cause the water crisis. The decision to use the Flint River wasn't bad by itself, the water wasn't treated properly.
The local media in this state, and others, is one of the major failed components that lead us into the current state of affairs. Without local reporting to hold local decision-makers accountable, how can we ever manage ourselves out of any kind of crisis?
