Wasn't there something floating around that "some players" would be given the option of keeping their persona intact (no public knowledge of their involvement revealed) while receiving their punishment (vs public k public knowledge released)? Public death vs quiet death?

IMHO- Hanx is either working FOR US, AND HAS BEEN ALL ALONG, OR Hanx has been picked up/arrested and forced to play along, keeping his involvement under wraps from the public.
